Mi tradición no vive solo un día al año.
Mi tradición no empieza, ni termina el Día de Mu***os!

Mi tradición es caminar con la muerte presente todos los días… no desde el miedo, sino desde la memoria.

Es despertar sabiendo que la vida es prestada.
Es crear, amar, decidir, perdonar y proteger a los míos con mis mu***os en mente.

Porque aunque a veces camino sola… nunca voy sola. Voy con mi sangre, mis recuerdos, mis ausencias y mis raíces caminando conmigo.

Esa es mi tradición.La vida que inevitablemente termina en muerte… y aun así merece ser vivida con verdad, arte y respeto. 🫡 ✊🏽

INTEGRIDAD CULTURAL: MÁS QUE UNA IMAGEN 💀

La Integridad Cultural no es una tendencia; es nuestra verdad. 🕯️

En Seattle Catrina, no nos limitamos a pintar caras; honramos una herencia. Entendemos que debajo de la belleza y los colores vibrantes del Día de los Mu***os, hay un cimiento profundo hecho de huesos, memoria y respeto.

Mientras el mundo te dice que mires hacia otro lado, mi arte te invita a mirar de frente.

Ver a la Catrina no es ver el final; es ver la verdad de nuestra existencia: somos esqueletos "en préstamo", disfrutando un momento bajo el sol. Y esa conciencia constante de la muerte es, irónicamente, lo que nos da la fuerza para cuidar a los que amamos con más pasión.

Honramos a los que se fueron, protegiendo ferozmente a los que se quedaron. Podrán imitar la imagen, pero jamás el alma.

La integridad no se compra ni se manifiesta de la noche a la mañana; se lleva en la sangre y se honra con cada movida. Mientras otros corren detrás de un "like" y se apropian de historias ajenas, nosotros permanecemos como los guardianes de lo auténtico.

Grace, strength, and a little bit of magic. ✨🌹

Oct 8, 2024 was a beautiful whirlwind of community celebration and personal milestones.

Protected by positive intention and a very special bouquet of roses laced with sage y romero de mi jardín as I stepped out to do what I love most: share our beautiful culture and represent the Seattle Catrina Festival y mis mu***os!

Behind the scenes was also a day of ultimate truth and timing.

I had been holding onto something, processing, and waiting for the right moment. But as the saying goes, callada te vez más bonita pork no hay mal que por bien no venga. By staying quiet and letting things unfold naturally, the path cleared exactly as it was meant to, and the noise simply faded away.

Out of that alignment, I truly stepped into my power as QUEEN Catrina, a title I didn’t ask for nor that I wanted because that’s not what I was there for due to the fact that my focus was entirely on the mission and the community.

But sometimes, leadership finds you when you're simply standing in your truth.

As for all that glitter, yes it hurt and took several days to take off, but the pride and protection of this moment last forever. 👑💀 Thank you Carlos Alvarado por darme mi lugar y al familia por todo lo que hacen para nuestra comunidad y mu***os

Mi Catrina is not a costume to me.

It is memory.
It is respect.
It is discipline.
It is presence.
It is carrying those who came before us with dignity.

So when I step into that role, I do it with all that intention in my mind, heart and soul.

Not every space understands the weight of that.
And that’s okay.

The dead always teach us discernment.
