Green on green on green 💚

This layered mug by shows off what happens when you build depth with glazes. Made on SPS speckled clay and layered with a full dip of Shadow Green, a half dip of Chrome Green, and finished with Sand Opaque.

In this video, we’re walking through how to make and place your own cone packs for kiln firings — including how to orient cones correctly, why they bend the way they do, and how they help verify your kiln is actually reaching temperature.

Whether you’re brand new to firing or just want a refresher, understanding witness cones is one of the best ways to better understand your kiln.

Also yes… the cones are kissing.

We handed the new Stoneware glazes over to the SPS team… and let’s just say people got opinions 👀

From Mood Ring to Pink Pearl, Lily Pad, Tidal Wave, and Baby Blue Speck, everyone had a favorite glaze combo going in — and a different favorite after the kiln opened.

Watch to see which glazes surprised us most ✨

Which combo would you try first? Let us know below.

Say hello to Ashford 🐾

He's another good dog making the rounds at Seattle Pottery Supply — and another reminder that studio runs are better with a sidekick.

We’re always happy to meet your four-legged companions when you stop by to grab clay, glazes, tools, or just wander the aisles looking for your next project.

Pet friendly, clay friendly, people friendly. That’s how we like it.

Ready to try marbling? This is the perfect place to start. ✨

Our Klamath Clay Sample Flight gives you four of our colorful Klamath stoneware clay bodies in one easy pack: Klamath Buff, Klamath Yellow, Klamath White, and Klamath Brown.

All four fire to cone 5 and create beautiful natural contrast when layered, blended, and thrown together — making them ideal for marbling, surface design, and experimenting with movement in clay.

A great way to explore the Klamath line without committing to full blocks.

Ready to play with fire? 🔥

Our Raku Firing Workshops are back at Seattle Pottery Supply — happening every first and third Saturday of the month with Eric Solberg behind the shop.

If you’ve never tried raku, it’s one of the most exciting firing methods in ceramics: fast firings, dramatic glaze effects, and that unforgettable post-kiln reveal.

Here’s how it works:

Bring your own bisqueware (BYOB)

Glazes are provided for self-application

Our team will be there to fire, guide, and answer questions

Up to 4 small-to-medium pieces included

We start firing at 10 AM and glaze cutoff is 12 PM, so come early.

Whether you’re new to raku or already hooked, this is a great way to experiment, learn, and make something unforgettable.

Visit our website or Eventbrite to reserve your spot.

In case you missed the announcement… meet Driftwood 🤍

Our newest clay body is a warm, speckled mid-range stoneware that starts out muslin-colored and fires to a creamy white with dark natural speckles. Depending on how you fire it (cone 5–7), those speckles can stay subtle or come through strong.

With a fine grit texture (no grog) and an easy-to-work-with feel, Driftwood is a great fit for both newer potters and seasoned makers looking for a soft, speckled clay body with lots of character.

Try it with SP204 Light Lavender or SP210 Orange for a beautiful spring-time vibe.

Now available in 12 lb cubes.

Speckles doing exactly what they’re supposed to do ✨

These beautiful matcha sets by show our newest clay bodies, Driftwood, in all the right ways. The warm creamy base and black-brown speckling create so much natural texture and movement — subtle, but full of character.

Driftwood fires from a muslin gray-beige to a warm white, with speckling that develops beautifully from cone 5–7.

And yes — Driftwood is now available if you’re ready to get your hands on it.

A glaze combo that stops you in your tracks ✨

This mug by pairs SPS Sea Mix clay with Blue Rutile and Smokey Merlot, creating a rich blend of reds and purples.

Sea Mix makes a beautiful canvas for layered glazes like this — letting all that color and variation really come through.
