Save the Date! Saturday, August 24, 1:00-3:00pm. Price Sculpture Forest on Whidbey Island!

Mark the date on your calendars now! “Wander Wonder: a sculptured dance happening” is returning to the Sculpture Forest on Saturday August 24 from 1:00-3:00pm. This is our 3rd annual event where acclaimed choreographer Eva Stone presents 10 new dance performances in collaboration with 10 national caliber professional dancers. Each short performance occurs at a different sculpture throughout the park, set to music. All performances are repeated multiple times throughout the 2 hour period so that you can wander from any “sculptural stage” to any other sculptural stage at any time, and viewers can spread out along the trails throughout the two hour event. After the event, you can also mingle with the choreographer, dancers, and sculptors.

All donations received will be split 50/50 between giving to local community Gifts From The Heart Food Bank and covering some of the production expenses for the event. We thank Island County and the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee for their appreciated support in making this unique multi-media event possible for visitors from near and far.

The recent passing of artist Richard Serra brought back memories of spending hours with his phenomenal sculpture Wake at the Olympic Sculpture Park as I prepared to create a piece for Sculptured Dance, a site specific dance event in collaboration with Pacific Northwest Ballet and Seattle Art Museum. My piece, You Sleep Like You’ve Never Sinned, was deeply inspired by Serra’s vision for this sculpture and was created with the dancers of Au Collective. The piece was seen by over 4,000 viewers on a stunning Seattle August afternoon in 2017. Live music by Jyun Jyun accompanied the piece made it a truly magical experience. 🎥 by LEVYfilms.

Excited to be presenting Keep Me in Mind at SIDF March 29 & 30, 8pm at the Erickson Theater in Seattle with Olympic Ballet Theatre. This festival traditionally sells out, so get your tickets while you can!

ARTIST FEATURE: Eva Stone - local choreographer presenting at the SIDF Mini Fest, Keep Me in Mind, with Olympic Ballet Theatre dancers!

Eva has previously presented work at SIDF in 2016 with her company, The Stone Dance Collective, and in 2018 utilizing four dancers from Pacific Northwest Ballet (one of her first pieces on pointe, Careless/Ruthless).

Her new piece centers around seduction with its various forms and tropes. “I worked with all 15 dancers most of the time and worked with smaller groups and the soloists separately. This piece was collaborative in some of the larger sections, as I love utilizing the dancers own response to the work I am creating.”

“The OBT dancers were kind and generous with me, and you’ll see the result of that in this work. They SHINE because they gave me the supportive space to do the work I know how to do” says Stone.

We can’t wait for what’s in store this SIDF MiniFest!
