Take the survey at fremonttrollsknoll.org

Last year, Friends of the Troll's Knoll received a small grant from the Department of Neighborhoods to develop designs for an expanded park at the Fremont Troll. The design will focus on the east side right of way, with a future vision of joining the east and west sides into an expanded Troll's Knoll Park. We are kicking off the design process with our landscape architect firm, Studio 41, and need your input! Please take a few minutes to complete our survey to share your thoughts on the space and which features are most important to you.

Hi Friends of the Troll!

GiveBIG, Seattle’s online giving event, began recently and we are seeking donors to help us continue to build out a safe and beautiful community space on the Troll's Knoll (the hill on the east side of the Fremont Troll)! A gift to Friends of the Troll's Knoll supports our clean up efforts, our future art installation projects, and a future paved pathway to the viewpoint at the top.

Help us unlock $1,000!

Our fiscal sponsor, Seattle Parks Foundation, will contribute $100 for each unique donor that Friends of the Troll's Knoll receives during GiveBIG, up to $1,000/ ten (10) unique donors.

Donate through our GiveBIG donation page now through May 6 to support Friends of the Troll's Knoll and please share with your networks to help us reach our GiveBIG goal of ten donors.

We appreciate your support as we continue to work together to ensure the Troll is a safe and beautiful space for all to enjoy.

Sincerely,

The Friends of the Troll's Knoll

Friends of the Troll's Knoll is a community group dedicated to strengthening our community and caring for the green space surrounding the Fremont Troll. Our vision is to expand the existing west side park to also include the east side right-of-way.

To promote activation, we are looking for artists, teaching artists, or artist teams to create an installation to accompany the Troll on the East Side of the Troll's Knoll. The Fremont Troll is a landmark beloved by locals and tourists alike, visited by tens of thousands of people every year.

The purpose of the call for public art installation is to create and install art that activates the space and encourages exploration of the East side of the Troll. Artwork will be accompanied with a plaque including artist information, as well as project sponsors.

We are particularly interested in projects that involve community engagement, including through community members volunteering with installation or thought hosting an event to celebrate the installation. The Friends of the Troll's Knoll Steering Committee will assist in enlisting volunteers and planning the celebration event.

Our Story

Friends of the Troll's Knoll is a community group dedicated to strengthening our neighborhood and enhancing the green space right-of-way next to the Fremont Troll.

In May 2016 the Troll's Knoll Park opened on the west side of the Fremont Troll. This park was made possible by the hard work of the Friends of the Troll’s Knoll group which secured $685,000 through the Seattle Parks and Green Spaces Levy 2010 Opportunity Fund. In the original funding proposal, both the east and west sides of the Troll were included in the renovation and park creation. Due to budget limitations, the east side was removed from the project scope and it remains an opportunity for additional green space. A maintained, safe space on both sides of the Troll benefits Fremont residents, visitors and fosters community. The Friends of the Troll’s Knoll works to organize community clean ups and establish a long term vision for the Troll’s Knoll green space.
