For the Seattle stage artists yearning to explore, re-inspire, and expand their talents, The former Theatre9/12—Actor Development weekly workshop still challenges with scenework, monologues and audition material: now it has evolved under the penumbra of Thalia's Umbrella and Terry Edward Moore. Still on 8th and James, still free parking, still PWYC. If you define yourself as a devoted acting professional and interested in collaborating with peers, please start by looking here.

Professional Actors’ WorkshopI lead the Professional Actors’ Workshop for Thalia’s Umbrella, a drop-in/out class for working and early career professionals. We meet once a week to work on scenes, audition material, and all related craft. The Workshop is PWYC. I am also available as a private c...

To the Wildly Talented Theatre9/12 Actors:

I hope you've all been thriving and creating over the summer! It's been a circus for me.

The Theatre9/12 Master Class that has kept you all stimulated and conquering auditions since 2008 will be resuming the Wednesday after Labor Day, September 5th, still at 7pm, still on the Trinity stage, and still pay as you can.

The most exciting news is that I will be co-teaching with Terry Moore. (Really? You??) You may be surprised how two like-minded teachers complement and enrich critiques. Terry has been a respected working actor in Seattle for decades, a founding member/actor of Theatre9/12, and artistic director for Thalia's Umbrella: an Equity company of superb standards.

As my departure date is at the whims of the real-estate market, we will work together at least through October after which he goes into rehearsals. Our hopes is that the excellent Thalia's Umbrella absorbs the Master Class under his guidance and continues as a service to the serious actors remaining in Seattle. As well, his Equity standing and connections may very well increase our group-size and your partner selection.

I hope to see you all in a few weeks! Antsy as fruck to work with y'all again!!

Yours,
—Charles

Currently, with TPS no longer having enough membership to be a central hub, and Facebook Seattle Theatre Artists administrator blocking any postings from me or about me and Theatre9/12, it has become impossible to reach enough actors to both create a working group and enough audience for laughing.

I'm so sorry to say I will be cancelling this offer here in Seattle; I'll teach it elsewhere and I hope you all will have the opportunity to see it. However as things stand now, I need to release the space and let enough people who planned to join us free up their time.

Again, I'm so sorry. I was looking forward to it enormously.

Seattle theatre CANCEL-CULTURE wins again. The most educated, discerning, and loyal critic of the few we have left has been frustrated into resignation. People who would rather chew glass than vote MAGA using identical weapon-tactics: "I hear that..." and "people are saying" without specific evidence backing up claims. This critic who was arrested marching for Civil Rights in the 60's was accused of every sort of bigotry because ONE director years ago did not like her review of his show. I have continually asked for the "offensive" writing and no one can produce it. Yet this gossip has spread beyond the fringe to major Equity houses for fear of this "cancel culture." Culture, indeed...

Theatre 9/12 is looking to fill a role for our Spring production opening April 5th, running four consecutive weekends, rehearsing in March. This is a new rewrite of a successfully produced script by a local author.

Most characters have boldly contrasting personality facets. We would like to meet actors for:
FERN: Late teens to 20-esque. Innocently flirtatious, girlish, hinting at coquettishness, naively open.
Flip Side: Terrified, hormonally aghast, searching for a cave to disappear into.

Please send info/links to: [email protected] by Friday this week, if possible.

All moneys past expenses are distributed to the cast. In 24 productions, only two couldn't meet expenses. Actor shares generally are in the 3-figures.
