Bye, baby. You were the best.

There are no words adequate to express my gratitude for all of you who joined us here. Those who helped create it from scratch, those who visited us, those who danced with us and for us. Those who healed here, who shared here, who connected here. Laughter, sweat, tears, and always always love.

Thank you for believing in my dream, and helping it come true. The energy continues. It ripples through all of you, and deeply within me. The physical space is going away, but the magic we made together? That is truly forever.

I love you all more than you know.

For those who had not heard the news yet, Studio Deep Roots will be closing at the end of this month. Our amazing landlord passed away last fall after a battle with cancer, and his family decided to sell his entire real estate portfolio to a company which intends to sell every building off in the coming year.

We will be selling all the furnishings this month, and will have a final weekend "garage sale" April 27/28 for those interested in coming to see what may be left that you can use. All proceeds go toward covering the costs of closing an established business like ours--no small job.

This summer I am hoping to have a costume trunk sale at my home. I have accumulated tons of awesome costuming for myself and my students over the 25 years I was involved in bellydance, and perhaps there are some items among them that you can keep dancing with joy? More details when they become available.

Thanks for your support and love over the years. Seattle's bellydance community really is the best.

Coming to you LIVE from Studio Deep Roots for the Hybrid Hafla is Indigo! Constantly mesmerized by movements of the body, Indigo is a BellyDancer, Yoga Instructor and Physical Therapist Assistant. A local beloved dancer we're so excited to have dance in person for our celebration.

HYBRID HAFLA PERFORMERS SPOTLIGHT: DEEP PURPLE TRIBAL

We're just a little more than 24 hours away, and there's a few more fabulous performers to introduce you to!

As we mentioned in spotlights yesterday, part of the unexpected positive outcomes of a pandemic lockdown was the surge of offerings online. Attending haflas with dancers from around the world has been an incredibly exciting shift, allowing us to meet and cheer on performers we might never otherwise have come across. As we were putting together the hafla lineup, we discussed performers/performances we were particularly tickled to have been able to enjoy thanks to online haflas, and invited some of them to be part of our celebration. In that light, next up: Deep Purple Tribal

"The Black Forest area in Germany isn't only well known for the black forest cake and cuckoo clocks, also a group of dancers who adore purple and love to dance with swords are well known in the european dance community. Today they polish their blades and come over to dance at the Deep Roots anniversary hafla!"
