Stone’s Summer Jam is an annual music festival hosted by Stone’s German Garage. It evolved from a desire of Shane Stone, owner of Stone’s German Garage, to give back to the community and help neighbors in need. Stone is a long-time Seattle resident. He was a professional guitar tech for more than 15 years, during which time he toured with several well-known Seattle bands. When his second daughter was born, he retired from touring and switched careers. As a technician, he began specializing in German cars, working for many of the area’s best shops. Now, years later, he owns his own German automobile repair shop, which has also employed both of his daughters. “It’s my dream come true”, says Shane. Stone’s German Garage strives to provide exceptional service to its clients and has grown bigger every year, primarily by word of mouth.
Shane is also part of Seattle’s recovery community. He battled addiction for most of his life but has been clean and sober for several years. He knows firsthand what it’s like to lose everything, to need help, and to be lifted and carried by a community. Stone’s Summer Jam, born from a wish to give back, is a clean and sober, family friendly event.
The Jam started as an employee and customer appreciation BBQ. Shane invited family and friends to share a meal and have fun in Carkeek Park. Two years ago, he added live music, and the Summer Jam was born. Additionally, he decided the event should accept donations to raise money for his chosen cause — ending hunger locally. Stone’s German Garage has long supported Seattle’s Food Lifeline , and all proceeds from Stone’s Summer Jam are donated to Food Lifeline. Food Lifeline provides food to more 300 food banks, shelters, and meal programs across Western Washington.
Stone’s Summer Jam is now a rapidly growing annual outdoor music event. We are focused on bringing people together to have fun and support local talent. Most importantly, we want to continue to help those in need. For the 2019 season, Stone’s is partnering with Food Lifeline to produce Foodstock, a benefit concert that celebrates the conclusion of their Summer Meals campaign. The Summer Meals campaignis designed to raise money for additional food bank support when more than 500,000 children lose their free and reduced meals during the summer break. We’re excited to celebrate the success of this program and summer’s end with music, friends, and food!
Foodstock will be a day of music, food, fun, and hunger awareness, featuring the legendary British Ska band the English Beat. Brought to you by Stone’s German Garage, all proceeds will benefit Food Lifeline. Come enjoy the music of three bands, a food truck rodeo, snow cones, and activities for the entire family. Bring a blanket and picnic basket, but please leave your alcoholic beverages and cannabis products at home.
