Chad Shearer - Music Festivals, PR Strategy, and Building Artist Visibility on the Virtual Sessions

"Great PR is about telling the right story at the right time." - Chad Shearer

Festival culture is more than lineups and stages. Behind every major event is a strategy shaping how artists, brands, and audiences connect.

In this episode, Chad Shearer from Caren West PR breaks down how festival publicity works today, from announcement campaigns and digital media strategy to the collaboration between booking teams, marketers, and press outlets.
We also dive into how emerging artists can position themselves for festival opportunities, why storytelling still drives the music industry, and how PR teams help shape the identity of major events across the country.

If you want to understand the real engine behind festival promotion and artist visibility, this conversation delivers a rare look behind the curtain.

Darran Bruce Talks The DJ Sessions, Pioneering Livestreaming, Passion, And More - EDMTunes 2/20/26

TheDJSessions.com/DarranEDMTunes

Bruce began live streaming on the internet in — believe it or not — 2009, a time long before Martin Garrix’s ‘Animals’, The Chainsmokers’ ‘Roses’, or the mainstream explosion of Skrillex. To put that in perspective, while we were still glazing Lady Gaga’s ‘Bad Romance’ and sharing DJ Earworm mashups on a darker-blue version of Facebook with the penguin and shark emoticons, Darran was already testing and stressing unlimited data plans from different services to move large amounts of data around the World Wide Web.

INTERVIEW: The DJ Sessions - Vents Magazine 2/17/26

"Personally, I’m in a good place. I’m energized by what’s next, and I’m staying grounded by remembering why we started. It was always about giving artists space to be heard, letting the music breathe, and building something that doesn’t disappear when trends shift. That mission still feels just as important now as it did on day one" - D. Bruce
