Brooke Westlund is a native Seattle painter whose abstract paintings explore her love of life and the beautiful city of Seattle and all that it encompasses: texture, simplicity, complexity, movement, color, spontaneity, awareness. Brooke’s mixed media abstract paintings show her world through her photography, differen

t types of paints, dry pigments, stamps, encyclopedia cut outs, high gloss varnishes, and found materials. She blends them with large brushstrokes, splatters, drips and bold colors. Most of Brooke’s time is spent in her studio and gallery in the eclectic Pike Place Market where you can find her most recent work. You can also see her work on display at Reclaim Decor, Gunnar Nordstrom Gallery and Alki Arts.

🪩 From vinyl record to disco ball! 🪩

Turn an old (scratched/non playable) vinyl record into a piece of art! I prepped the record, filled in the center hole to create a flat surface, and turned it into my very own little vinyl canvas. 🎨✨

This one was SO much fun to make — from sketching out all those little lines to layering each individual stroke and watching the disco ball come to life. 🪩💫

And the best part… I’m going to be teaching you how to make one! 🎨🪩

If you’re wondering what to do tonight I have a fun family idea. It’s the Belltown Art walk tonight and we will be doing a community canvas and Brittney will be there having to paint your own magnets and indigo will be with me. Come on down and paint with us and then go to the waterfront park!

🎨 I’m looking for some NEW paint + sip ideas!

I’d love to hear what you guys would actually want to paint at a fun, creative night out. 🍷🎨 (not a cheesy seasonal painting theme where everyone paints the same exact)

Right now I’m doing:
• Abstract
-Pacific Northwest mixed media + an overlay
• Floral painting
• I’ve also done palm trees 🌴…
In all my classes, everybody can pick their own colors and their paintings all turn out completely different! It’s so much fun!

But I’m ready for some fresh ideas!

What would you be excited to paint? Something modern? Moody? Weird? Colorful? A little more challenging? Totally beginner-friendly? Just art play time?

Give me ALL your ideas — I’m trying to come up with some new classes that people are actually excited to take and would love to create something fun for you guys! ❤️

If you’re new here, I’m so happy you found my little corner of this crazy thing that can connect us across the world. Love/hate Instagram 😉💕

I’m an abstract artist, creative encourager, and the owner of a tiny studio in Seattle’s Pike Place Market. I believe art should bring joy—not pressure—and that creativity is for everyone, whether you’re picking up a paintbrush for the first time or collecting your tenth original painting.

Here you’ll find colorful artwork inspired by the Pacific Northwest, behind-the-scenes glimpses from my studio, creative projects with my family, art classes, and plenty of reminders that making a mess is part of the magic.
