(354)

Equinox Studios - The Creative Industrial Complex has breathed new life to a 30,000 square foot industrial building circa 1941, in the southwest corner of the historic Georgetown neighborhood. With studios ranging from 120-3000 square feet, Equinox is now the creative space for over 40 artists and artisans from all disciplines... metalworking, woodworking, ceramics, painting, photography, design,

video, sculpture, and much more. Equinox is open to the public every second Saturday during the Georgetown Art Walk and holds an annual open house each December. It is also the home base for the new Georgetown Art Ride, a shuttle bus that will take you to several shuttle stops throughout the neighborhood to enhance your art walk experience.

More from the studio process of Ramona Lee, our Equinox Artist of the Month:

“In the studio—where figures shift, dissolve, and re-form. Working between clay and paint allows me to think through the body differently—what is held internally versus what becomes visible.”

A work from our Artist of the Month, Ramona Lee, titled "Worry From One Eye to the Other":

A gaze isn’t passive—it carries, holds, and sometimes transfers what can’t be said. From Worry from one eye to the other, this work traces how emotion moves between figures, blurring where one body ends and another begins.

From our Artist of the Month, Ramona:

Now on view: A Maternal Gaze. This exhibition reflects on care, tension, and generational presence.
My work explores how worry and attention circulate through the gaze—what we inherit, and what wehold. On view through May 31 at Columbia City Gallery.

Meet our May Artist of the Month: Ramona Lee!

About Ramona:

Ramona Lee is an American Artist and public educator in South Seattle.

Working across painting, clay, and digital media, Lee’s recent pieces examine how worry, care, and perception move from one body to another. Her ongoing series Worry from one eye to the other positions the gaze as both a conduit and a burden, tracing the quiet transfer of emotion between subjects.

Lee’s work is currently featured in A Maternal Gaze, on view April 22 – May 31 at Columbia City Gallery in Seattle, alongside Miwa Gardner. The exhibition considers care, tension, and generational presence through layered figuration and material sensitivity.

Lee continues to develop new large-scale paintings and
sculptural forms that expand on these themes within her studio at Equinox.

Meet our April Artist of the Month: Serpent and Crow 🐍🐦‍⬛

A few words from the folks at Serpent and Crow:

Serpent and Crow is the most recent presentation from Dennis, Amber and Raymond. For over 20 years, "Tripod" has been playing at being human with community service, a retail game shop, rogue artists, muralists, performers, curators, Dungeons and Dragons role playing, and whatever else they can get their grubby little hands on.

The group started as "Waterline Studio and Gallery" in 2022 at the beautiful green gem of Georgetown, Oasis Outpost. With the development of the Lucile block, the trio found cracks to fit in at The Lucile House, and together with Brian and other countless artists, a temporary art and performance space was created. Late 2023 brought the opportunity to move to the main campus. With a new studio with a new name, Serpent and Crow now call 210 Big Blue their nest.

Besides their own artwork, Serpent and Crow exhibits artwork from 1st time artists, outpost artists, and other community members for the second Saturday open studios.

As artists of the month, Serpent and Crow will be hosting Famous Hanks' Fabulous Photo Booth. Amber is building a magical whimsical backdrop, so dress in your glittery and most fabulous apparel and come check it out at the "Pop Up Space"! Archmonoth will be presenting his most recent literary feast, The Starvation Monologues of the Golden Dust Bunny. The outer wall at Big Blue showcases Amber's whimsical crow and mirror series and guest artist Sophy Hildreth, while the interior gallery showcases Equinox artist Helena Rogers.
