{“G. Storia ed estetica grunge” is a book about the birth and parable of the Seattle and Northwest music scene. Unpublished testimonies – starting from that of Scott Ledgerwood, bassist of Bam Bam – help to revive the memory of human and artistic relationships in Seattle during the Eighties and early Nineties.
Matteo Ceschi, essayist and photographer, particularly focuses on the significant role played by photographers, directors, cartoonists, independent publishers and journalists, and the fashion system as well, in making grunge pop(ular) and mainstream. He is also interested in the bands’ civic engagement, the political and social issues on which they took a stance.
Alongside the usual and more well-known grunge characters (Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, Mark Arm, Eddie Vedder, etc.) you will also find two important female figures: Tina Bell, singer of Bam Bam and the "Godmother of Grunge", and Susan Silver, the manager of Soundgarden and Alice in Chains.
“G. Storia ed estetica grunge” is a rough, impressionistic tableau, a grunge portrait of a musical and cultural era.
An essential discography of grunge (ten songs) is included in the appendix of the book}.
