Tom McAlister is an artist that thinks like an ecologist, exploring what it means for us to be at home in this world. McAlister’s works on display start outside with pile of leaves, ghost pots on the window ledge, on the wall is circumambulation i, and sewn/sown sits on a low table made by the artist. Together these works emphasize the importance of extended bodily encounters with the environment. Make sure to stop by and see these works in person until June 5th!

The Bitter Return by Natali Sweetmalson is a reflection on today’s political climate with the intention of impacting society as a whole. Sweetmalson’s Palestinian identity is strongly connected to her practice as she finds ways to express her experience as a mother living in the West. Her work sheds light on the voices and people of Palestine and their struggle for liberation and justice.
Come see this work before the show exhibition closes later today!

Tina Tian’s work, stools, speak to the relationship between humans and nature, specifically focusing on our current commercial farming systems. These stools provide support just as animals provide for us, yet we do not give back in return. Tian invites us to sit and discuss our position in environmental justice.
Stop by to see Ways of Becoming until May 22nd!

Coming up next Tuesday! May 19th from 5:30 to 7:30pm we will have our last Liberation Book Club event of the year focused on Freeing The Body. The question we are considering is, what if liberation starts in the body? We are partnering with Kimberly K’uh Ayoka to host an Indigenous Yoga Workshop. Make sure to bring a yoga mat or soft cushion, blanket to sit or lay on. We are excited to be in community with you!
