In response to the growing popularity of unscripted comedy, Andrew McMasters and Mike Christensen founded Jet City Improv in 1992. Their first-ever show took place at Bite of Seattle on May 18th, 1992. In 1996, the company incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In 2003, Jet City Improv relocated to and purchased the former Historic University Theater. Today, Jet City Improv strives t

o enlighten, educate and entertain audiences through the art of improvisation. The company performs free improv comedy shows for children with disabilities and illnesses in Washington and teaches free improv comedy workshops to homeless, incarcerated and in transition youth in Seattle. The company employs eight staff members and upwards of 50 actors and theater professionals at any point during the course of a production season.

A new test flight takes off from the Drama Room next Friday night!

Join us for Shakespeare 101! To earn their final arts credit, a group of high school seniors must put on a Shakespeare play. The only problem? Nobody knows what's going to happen next. Blending modern teen life with improvised Shakespearean scenes, this completely unscripted comedy delivers all the theatrical fun you'd expect from the Bard, made up on the spot.

We had an amazing SOLD OUT Queerly Beloved this month benefiting . With legendary special guest, Beau Peep!

Queerly Beloved is back July 16th, opening the Jet City Improv Festival!!

In the meantime, you can still donate to Lavender Rights Project, a Black Trans feminist organization committed to dismantling oppressive systems that disproportionately harm Black communities. They believe that those most impacted by injustice are the architects of liberation, and they ground their work in those lived experiences, resilience, and leadership. Through policy and legal advocacy, movement lawyering, community organizing, and wraparound supportive housing, they build pathways to justice, empowerment, and systemic change.

Next Saturday is a double-header in the Drama Room!

At 9:30 PM we return to a small town near you for "Small Town Problems." Where quirky small-town citizens face off and speak up at the town’s public forum. Follow along as this tight-knit community navigates city-sized problems, ranging anywhere from unauthorized pet adoption posters to bake fairs gone wrong. Amidst all of the big emotions and big personalities will the town come together for even bigger triumphs? This longform improvisation show moves between town council meetings and the daily happenings within the town.

We've got jams this weekend!

If you weren't able to snag a ticket for Queerly Beloved before it sold out, you can still join us for PRISM, our monthly LGBTQIA+ improv jam. Led by members of the community, this is a safe space for q***r folks to come and find community while cutting loose and having fun!

On Sunday, REPS is back with a session for musicians for musical improv. If you've got a knack for musical instruments, come join the jam session!
