In response to the growing popularity of unscripted comedy, Andrew McMasters and Mike Christensen founded Jet City Improv in 1992. Their first-ever show took place at Bite of Seattle on May 18th, 1992. In 1996, the company incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. In 2003, Jet City Improv relocated to and purchased the former Historic University Theater. Today, Jet City Improv strives to enlighten, educate and entertain audiences through the art of improvisation. The company performs free improv comedy shows for children with disabilities and illnesses in Washington and teaches free improv comedy workshops to homeless, incarcerated and in transition youth in Seattle. The company employs eight staff members and upwards of 50 actors and theater professionals at any point during the course of a production season.

Every Saturday in October is a bone-chilling improvised double feature.

The weekend starts with "Pay What You Can" Slasher tickets every Thursday in October. The party keeps rolling through Friday till we turn things up on Saturdays. Which kicks off with a 7:00 PM showing of Last Call, our 1920s haunted speakeasy-themed improvised musical. Then Slasher is back at 9:00 PM for a thrilling late show. The whole evening wraps up by 10:30, so you'll have plenty of time for haunted late-night hijinks.

We're getting Improv theaters from all over Washington together for a one-night benefit supporting people affected by the Spokane Complex wildfires.

The evening will feature performers from Jet City Improv, Unexpected Productions, The Upfront Theater, Seattle Comedy Theater, and Blue Door Theatre. It’s a rare chance to see improvisers from Seattle and Spokane sharing one stage, with everyone donating their time to help communities facing an ongoing crisis.

Proceeds from ticket sales and additional donations will benefit the Spokane Complex Wildfire Response Fund at Innovia Foundation.

It all gets started at 7:00 PM on September 27th at the University Heights Center! Tickets are available at jetcityimprov.org

The fall session kicks off on Tuesday, September 22nd, with Instructor Saina Hussain. Saina is a Seattle Improviser and Jet City Improv ensemble member, and she is so excited to welcome you to Improv 101. Her 7:30-9:30 PM class runs every Tuesday from September 22nd to November 3rd at West of Lenin Theatre in Fremont.

The Emerald City Slasher is back for its 5th season in Seattle! Featuring characters inspired by audience submissions, The Emerald City Slasher is an improvised dark comedy murder mystery. At the start of each performance, eight citizens of The Emerald City will learn whether they are the Slasher, a Survivor, or one of the many Victims - roles kept secret from each other and the audience. Can the Survivors figure out who to trust? Can you figure out who the Slasher is?
