Theatre Puget Sound (TPS) is a leadership and service organization founded in 1997 to advocate for the region's growing theatre community's causes and administer much-needed services. TPS is now the Northwest's premiere arts advocacy and leadership organization, providing programming and services that benefit both the theatre community and the larger regional arts community.

Bringing people together, especially in challenging times, matters more than ever. That’s what TPS does so well. In a region that can sometimes feel distant or disconnected, TPS creates spaces where people can gather, connect, and feel part of something shared.

Through vibrant productions, community events, and creative collaborations across the Sound, TPS makes theater accessible, welcoming, and alive. It’s a place to rediscover favorites, experience something new, and meet people you might never have crossed paths with otherwise.

TPS isn’t just about theater it’s about community. Old friends, new faces, all coming together.

Support this work however you can. It makes a difference.

We had a fantastic Gregory Awards Nominator Appreciation Pizza Party! It was wonderful to see so many dedicated volunteers and passionate theatre lovers gathered in one room, sharing conversations about the incredible shows and artists that make our community so special. Thank you to everyone who came out, and an even bigger thank you for all of your hard work, enthusiasm, and support throughout the season.

We’re also thrilled to announce that, so far, 113 productions have been entered for the 2025–2026 Gregory Awards! The incredible number of shows submitted this year speaks to just how vibrant, ambitious, and thriving our performing arts community is right now. The Gregory Awards program continues to grow in a huge way, and it’s so exciting to see this level of participation and artistry across our region.

Congratulations to all of the artists, companies, and communities helping make this one of the most successful years in recent memory!

Theatre Puget sound is the spark that began my theatrical career. When I first came back from college, I knew that I wanted to act, but returning to the Pacific Northwest, I didn’t know the first thing about how to get started. Especially since I hadn’t done anything more than school plays beforehand.

The funny thing is, I actually don’t remember how I first found Theatre Puget Sound. I know that I didn’t really find them until late 2015, but I don’t recall the exact circumstances. But what I am sure of is that I didn’t find my first role until I saw the auditions on TPS. I even got offered a role because of TPS that same year too. It was…amazing for my first full year of acting.

That’s the special sauce that TPS can give to Seattle and beyond. They’re the coordinator that helps bring people into spaces they never would’ve heard of or considered.

"I've been involved with TPS since its founding and know that the organization is crucial to our continuing growth as a vibrant theatre community.

TPS helps create community through communication, connection and conferences (I'm a sucker for alliteration!) But seriously, the ability to meet via email, zoom and in person through meetings, workshops, festivals, the yearly auditions and now playwright and design/tech connections is essential. It's a constant reminder that all theater artists in all areas working in any sized theater company are valued and important. I've been artistic director of a member theater, an individual member and volunteer and know that the work that TPS does has helped sustain our companies and individual artists. We celebrate and commiserate together which helps us move forward together and reminds us that we are not alone. I believe that TPS needs all of us to talk to each other to make this region continue to thrive for art, artists and our ability to create not only fun, provocative theater but work that pays."

Introducing Artist Website 101: Building a Simple Website That Works

This workshop is designed specifically for performing artists and others working in the performing arts who want to build — or improve — a professional website that actually gets them hired. Drawing from Malia's background as both a theatre performer and a digital marketer, attendees will leave knowing exactly what their artist website needs to do and how to make it do it.

We have some news to share with our TPS community.

Dr. Crystal Yingling has concluded their service as Executive Director of TPS. We are grateful for their dedication and the heart they brought to this work. We wish them well in every good thing ahead.

We are pleased to welcome Aaron Shanks as Interim Executive Director. Aaron is a seasoned marketing leader and performing artist who bridges the gap between creative vision and operational excellence. With a career spanning over 30 years in the Washington arts community, he brings a wealth of experience in nonprofit leadership, audience development, and arts advocacy.

We are glad to have him with us.

TPS is here. Our doors are open, our programs are running, and our commitment to this community is as strong as ever. Thank you for being part of this with us. 💙🧡
