It has been a long time since we have updated the blog. We haven’t abandoned the project, but between Daegalus having kids (2 of them in fact) and moving to Denmark, we haven’t made a whole lot of progress.

While the Go server re-implementation has been going slow, Samael has been adding missing functions, making similar adaptions to the code required.

This implementation will also be used as a reference source to the Go server re-implementation once Daegalus gains some of his free time back.

A summary of changes he has made:

- Reestablished the Default Text of all NPCs
- Npc/Creatures now properly drop items as expected
- Resurrected all instruction sets for NPCs and all ON(Scripts) to ensure that flags, items and scripts are properly configured
- Loaded in the 12 class group requirements and associated spells for each class based on level again. Spells are starting to work again!
- Proximity Loading for NPCs is working again based on player activity in locations
- Improved overall Server Loading Performance reducing start time by 6 minutes
- Quest Instructions are completely loaded. The triggers are NOT but once called all the proper instructions would be followed
- Auto Talk (Where the npc wants to basically flag you down vs you having to speak with them first) is working again.
- Myriad of bug fixes and general improvements
- Potions and consumables are now useable.

Well today I got the appearances for equipment working again, updated loading for all NPC, Object and Interactive Objects and finally got a sample of the quest text/saytext loading properly.

I forgot how cool the armor that changes based on your class/equipment was. really cool

Another step in the right direction for allowing functionality to work properly again.

I will try to keep posting updates as we get through them. Tired and sleeping now.

I know its been a while since we provided an update.

We continue to make progress on the overall server architecture and work will be continuing to modernize it beyond the base functionality.

Completed:
Loading, Environment and Memory Management of:
- Spells Data
- Zones
- Items
- Creatures, Hives and Larvae Initialization. Initial NPC starting points, Mobs, Spawns etc. are now working properly, dynamically.
- Ability to walk between maps with Proper linking embedded in server side tools
- Base Clan / Relationship of factions
- Proper flags and global flag initialization.
- Inventory Management
- Web and Zone patching is functional
- Boost Formula calculations (manages systematic loading of formula based interactions including dmg rolls)
- NPC / Server scripting and sysop commands now properly to allow for the creation of events and overall management of the game at both a GM and Helper level.

What does this mean? Largely the data and environment initialization allows us to ensure the functionality has been restored. This list is long and we will work to provide additional summarization as we look forward. Overall this update provides a lot of the in game capabilities that have been missing and serve as a foundation for the next tier of game play capabilities.

I will add more information as we continue to progress. We still do not have a date where we will open up the server for more connections however as we determine an Alpha plan we will inform.

At this time the team is still largely focused on ensuring the core concepts are all in place for functionality enablement.

Work has continued on improving the structure of the packet communication.

In addition, Samael has been working on resolving a few of the bind stone and teleport stone locations. Things like Feyhin apparently had 3 versions of the zone and there was a mis-match. Those from back in the day will remember getting stuck in Sunken Glades of Magistrya or Feyhin consistently.

We have made some good progress, but we currently are working on the harder part of getting everything to be feeding off the database, loading quest, zone, and other file data. Putting together all the actual glue.
