We were so thankful to get more tickets to the !! This time, we saw Carmen.

“It was so lovely to get to spend the night at the opera with STANCE friends! So many of us have rarely or never seen an opera before, and getting to see Carmen was so epic. Really appreciate being able to get tickets and be immersed in such a fantastic production!”

We raised $15,500 to support our 150+ member trans community choir in Seattle!!! We had such a lovely time celebrating our singers and sharing the impact this work has on our community.

Hear what one of our attendees said…
It was a joy to attend the STANCE Showcase and experience music, poetry, and performances from singers and artistic leadership of the choir! Walking into the lobby, it was clear that the community showed up in a big way to support the choir and enjoy the silent auction, grab something from art and bake sale, and participate in the rats vs. sharks of it all. But what was most powerful was hearing from singers about how STANCE is more than a choir. STANCE is artistic expression, it is vocal euphoria, it is mutual aid, and it is home. What an incredible thing to support through such a fun event!

SHOWCASE IN ON SATURDAY (TOMORROW)!!!

We are raising money for STANCE, our 150+ member choir who seeks to empower the Seattle trans community through choral music. A few weeks ago, we created this big shark with 20 trans people. .carpenter.42 and put in some amazing work to make this happen. We will be raffling off this shark in a bundle with lots of other incredible one-off-a-kind shark treasures. We will also have an exclusive bundle of that was delivered to us by a large group of trays that broke into our social media manager’s apartment.

Raffle tickets are only available in person, and require cash (rats can only count money if they can smell it). Tickets are $10 each - get to the show early to get tickets!!

Can’t wait to see you all for a very special night on Saturday, April 18 at 7pm (doors at 6pm)!!

There are FOUR WAYS TO GIVE at our STANCE Showcase on April 18 (less than a week away!)

1: Place a bid at our SILENT AUCTION!!!! We have $12,000+ of donated items sold tonight. Support STANCE WHILE getting cool new stuff by orgs that support us.

2: Invest in the Seattle trans/nonbinary community by directly supporting us! This is simple and gives us the resources we need for our 150+ person choir for trans/nonbinary people to sing together.

3: IN PERSON ONLY RAFFLE!!!! CASH ONLY!!!!! We will have two raffle bundles - a SHARK BUNDLE and a RAT BUNDLE. Both of these are very special to the Seattle community and beyond… 20+ trans people in America/Canada helped us build this! The bundle that gets more tickets will get a high-five. Tickets are $10 each.

TICKETS LIVE IN BIO
The Seattle Trans and Nonbinary Choral Ensemble is so excited to announce our Pride Concerts at UCUCC this June.

WHAT TRANS JOY SOUNDS LIKE
This concert is a celebration of voice, community, and collective song. We will have classical choral music, show tunes, and more!

The event is mask required, ADA accessible, and we will have sign language interpretation at both concerts. Tickets are offered on a sliding scale (including free admission). Livestream available for both shows.

The concert grows from quiet reflection into a radiant finale of voices joined in joy.

We just had our second Art Party!! We had more block prints, more fun, and had an easy to understand system to help people make art. We’re so thankful to for hosting this event with us for FREE!!

Thank you to our attendees for bringing your beautiful ideas. Thank you to our ever-growing group of volunteers (we had fresh-brewed tea this time because of you!!!). Thank you to those who support our work near and far. We can’t do this work without you.

TICKETS AVAILABLE for our STANCE Showcase at UCUCC (in U District)!! Watch incredible performances by members of our trans community. You will hear original songs, poetry, group performances, and more! We will also have a silent auction - swipe for a sneak peak :)

This is STANCE’s largest fundraiser of the year. We have grown and established ourselves so much since our founding in 2022. With your support, we can create long-term stability for our group of well over 100 trans community singers.

A group of us went to the opening night of Fellow Travelers at ! We are so thankful for all Seattle Opera has done to support both trans/queer voices and BIPOC musicians. You mean so much to us. Thank you for caring. Going to events as a community and sharing memories helps us create connections and be the best choir we can be.

CHALLENGE:
Your TASK is to make patches for our big stuffed shark with your friends. You may also help us perform an INSTANT SEA SHANTY.

TIME:
In Part One, you will have 2hrs to use your IMAGINATION to make and add SICK PATCHES to our shark (and start thinking of a sea shanty together).
In Part Two, you will have 30min to finish adding patches and record our INSTANT SEA SHANTY.

SET-UP:
We will be indoors at a venue just north of Cal Anderson. We will have tables with materials (feel free to bring your own supplies!). We will also have chairs. This venue is ADA Accessible.

PROCEDURE:
Part One - 1pm-3pm (2hrs):
Make a patch! It’s kinda like a community quilt. You will be able to handsew patches, block print things, and use fabric paint/spray paint. If you have more ideas, let us know or bring your own supplies!
We will have teachers who can help you on your task! Just ask a volunteer if you need support.
If you come up with any lyrics of a possible INSTANT SEA SHANTY, tell a friend or start singing it. Together we MUST develop a sea shanty.

Part Two - 3pm-3:30pm (30min):
Sing the INSTANT SEA SHANTY into a recording device, help stuff the shark, add patches, or smile at someone else. We will then put the recording in the shark so you can press it and it makes the sound.
You may continue working on your patches.

MATERIALS:
Sewing: Needles and thread, Irons, Sewing Machine
Printing: Premade Linocuts, Block printing ink
Paint: Fabric paint, fabric spray paint
One massive red corduroy shark
One voice recorder for our sea shanty

WHAT THIS EVENT WILL PRODUCE:
1 community shark that is PATCHED UP with SUPER COOL ART to be sold at our STANCE SHOWCASE on April 18
1 community sea shanty recorded into our voice recorder

COST:
Free!!! Limited tickets.
