The sheer stupid cruelty on full, unapologetic display in this country right now is absolutely disgusting and heartbreaking. My heart aches for those who have been violated of their rights, their freedoms, their dignity (and in too many unfortunate cases, also their lives). There is absolutely zero justification whatsoever for the kind of cruel, inhumane and abhorrent treatment of people being green-lit and endorsed — and it boggles my mind that there is still anyone able to do the Olympic-level mental gymnastics to condone the brutality and abuse of another human being, no matter their background, under any guise of good-faith reasoning. As an empath, and someone highly sensitive to energy, I’m admittedly struggling with how to navigate the chaos, hurt, and scariness of our times, and I guess I’m just trying to find my own way to add my voice to the dissent, even if it feels tiny and insignificant in the face of the big machine. But I’m also trying to find solace in the many large and small, public and private ways that SO many others in and around the country and across the world who are standing up and helping to bring accountability to those abusing their power… that togetherness and solidarity makes us all stronger.
