Some people are lucky enough to hug their moms today, hand them flowers, and say “Happy Women’s Day.” And I truly hope they do, because a mother’s love is one of the greatest gifts we’ll ever experience in this life.

But today, my celebration looks a little different.

Instead of a hug, I send my love upward.
Instead of flowers, I offer a prayer.

Mom, you were the most selfless person I’ve ever known. You gave so much of yourself to make sure I had a better life. Your love was never conditional, never complicated — it was simply there, every single day.

When I was young, I didn’t always understand the depth of your sacrifices. But as life moves forward and I grow older, I see them more clearly than ever.

I see them in the strength you carried through difficult times.
I see them in the patience you had with me when I didn’t deserve it.
And I see them in the endless love you gave without asking for anything in return.

Today I whisper a prayer to Heaven.

God, please hold my mom close today. Let her know she is still deeply loved and forever missed.

Women’s Day is meant to celebrate the beautiful strength of women around the world. But today, my celebration feels a little different. It’s not filled with hugs or flowers. Instead, it’s filled with memories and a quiet prayer.

Because the woman who deserves my gratitude the most now lives among the angels.

Mom, you were the light that guided me through so many chapters of my life. When I didn’t believe in myself, you did. When the world felt overwhelming, you reminded me that I was stronger than I thought.

Your love was the kind that never disappeared. Even when we argued. Even when I made mistakes. Even when life pulled us in different directions.

You were always there.

And even now, I believe you still are — just in a different way.

I feel you in the lessons you taught me.

For many people, Women’s Day is filled with flowers, laughter, and warm hugs shared with the amazing women in their lives. But for me, this day feels a little different. It feels softer. Quieter. Because the one woman I want to celebrate the most now lives in Heaven.

Mom, you were the first person who ever believed in me. Before I understood the world, before I even understood myself, you saw something special in me. You encouraged me when I doubted myself and lifted me up every time I fell.

Your love was never loud or dramatic. It was steady, patient, and endless. It showed up in packed lunches, late-night talks, and the way you always made sure everyone else was okay before yourself.

Today, I look up at the sky and imagine you somewhere peaceful. Somewhere free from pain. Somewhere surrounded by the light you always carried inside your heart.

Even though I can’t call you today or hear your voice telling me everything will be okay, your love still guides my life. Every good choice I make carries a piece of you with it.

So today, on Women’s Day, I send my prayers to Heaven. I ask God to wrap His arms around you and let you know how deeply you are loved down here.

Tonight feels like one of those moments when America simply needs prayer.
