Transitional kitchen remodel in Lakeview, Chicago We recently wrapped up this kitchen renovation as part of a larger remodel. We were aiming for something that feels current but not overly modern - restrained and balanced rather than trendy.
-Inset cabinets with a simple shaker profile
-Warm wood island to break up the painted perimeter
-Soft green tile backsplash instead of white/gray
-Brushed brass fixtures + lighting for contrast
-Clean quartz counters with minimal veining
Curious what people think—does the mix of traditional + modern read well, or would you have pushed it more in one direction? If anyone wants to see the full project pictures, comment and I'll DM you the project link.

Can this even be considered a weld? On one of the gates of a children's farm in Holland. If it works, it works(...?)

The setup includes industrial-grade tools such as a cut-off saw (right side), a mobile welding machine on a rolling cart (bottom right), and a wall-mounted rack for hand tools like locking pliers and clamps.

Metal brackets outside some doors in Bordeaux? Walking around Bordeaux we noticed that probably 1 in every 10 houses has a metal bracket to one side of the front door. Often painted the same color of the door so it looks nice. (Not all have an open spot in the sidewalk below it like this one). We think it’s maybe to hold plants/vines, but that’s really just a guess. Initially thought it was to hold a gutter, but that doesn’t appear to be a thing when I looked around. Anybody know what it’s actually for?
