Gallery of the Day: Nostalgic Renaissance in Seattle’s Wedgwood Neighborhood.

Whenever I begin my nightly residential noire photowalk the ambience of nostalgia and moodiness arrives. The once filled streets of people driving to work for the day, kids and teenagers walking/biking to and from school, and birds chirping from early morning to a day’s end becomes majestically beautiful to me. Street lights producing small pockets of light for me to capture a moment.

Every time, I stroll pass cozy homes with a singular light on it makes me think who’s behind that window? What are they up to? Is anyone even in the house? Thousands and thousands of different lifestyles, personalities, and ambiences contained behind all doors.

Gallery of the Day: Got a little antsy decided to keep it short and do a little photo walk with trusty camera and get some shots to a day’s end at Enatai Beach Park to remind myself that spring and summer are nearly here for those cotton candy and sherbet ice cream sunsets. While listening to some tunes on a desolate bench gazing at the moon’s crescent full of ancient mysticism and beauty. Hidden euphoria awaiting to be gazed upon.

Gallery of the Day: More than a little street SPI photography at Seattle’s waterfront ferry terminal during a very grey and foggy morning.

Decided a while back to have some fun with my 35mm prime lens. This focal length always gives me the closest perspective to what my eyes are seeing in the heat of the moment. Or in this case the moodiness. I captured these shots from mostly the upper walkways of the terminal observing those on the streets. Commuters arriving and departing on foot, bikes and vehicles to begin another day. At times, I think that many people I walk by are in “autopilot” mode only fixed and focused on their destinations. The rain always adds a bit of urban mysticism as the street and car lights reflect off the road. Colors popping out with a vibrant sight.

Gallery of the Day: Mid December Sunsets with a hint of Blue hour.

Captured these photos back in the middle of December of the last year during a brisk end to the day at Gas Works Park. This gallery of photos were shot around 3:30-4:50pm. It’s amazing what thinner air during the beginning of winter can do.

People of all ages were strolling awaiting for “nature’s candy show” to unravel. I noticed people of all ages and backgrounds walking, listening to music through their speaker, joggers making their way up Kite Hill for a quick view of Seattle’s skyline slowly becoming a silhouette, couples spending a nightly stroll together, and cyclists coasting downhill. As blue hour arrives above so do the city’s lights reflecting off South Lake Union.

It’s always nice to see those taking in some of Seattle’s rare sunny days.

Gallery of the Day: “Follow the Light, Stay in the Shadows”

This is one of moto’s I try to live by while adventuring the urban streets of Seattle’s neighborhoods after the sunlight goes down. Different seasons make for a variety of scheduled times that the natural light begins to vanquish. In the summer it may be as late as 10pm and in winter as early as 4pm. This gap of 6 hours can make all the difference when exploring the known and the unknown.

To me roaming the residential streets of various neighborhoods makes for some interesting encounters or incidents. Always having a plan, knowledge of the area, and the most important rule…paying attention of your surroundings from the streets afar to the next corner of a building. I’ve learned with hundreds of hours being out alone that you never want to be putting yourself in a vulnerable situation. Even if you think you know the area, what you should be questioning is “who else” is lurking around at this time and what their intentions could be…

Gallery of the Day: Come take a photo walk with me in Pioneer Square and the waterfront.

Started at the early morning around 4:30am. Left quickly to catch the first bus commute to Seattle’s King Street Station for some blue hour mixed with rain, drizzle, and even a little bit of hail. As my photo walk deepened the entrance of foggy skies entered the city slowly fading the skyscrapers above. The Great Wheel towards the waterfront finally starting to begin for the day.

It’s amazing to see the different atmospheric chapters throughout a city’s streets. From dawn to dusk thousands of scenes with stories awaiting to be captured and perceived.

Gallery of the Day: A little collage with my lovely beautiful girl during Thanksgiving last year. She is one of the best cooks and baker, if not the best. She is made some excellent and tasty faccetta bread with tomatoes, rosemary, and olives. With a sweet homemade apple cinnamon pie with a small pint of vanilla ice cream on the side. Her enjoyment in her creative cooking can even be tasted after that first bite. She always spoils me with what she puts together in the kitchen!

Gallery of the Day: This is a cool collection of photos from the Smithsonian National Museum of American History consisting of different pop culture items from old hollywood props, vintage food packaging, and technology throughout our history as a country.

I love learning and seeing accumulated old stuff regardless of the category. America, the country of cheeseburgers with a side of bottomless coke refills, golden films that made childhood memories, and technology advancing at a rate so fast we can’t keep up with.
