Great horned owls are known to take on prey larger than themselves, including osprey and other owls. They're also happy to eat smaller meals like mice and frogs. Either way, this a fierce bird.

New card alert! 🚨

Don't get me wrong, I think the male northern cardinal is a beautiful bird. However, for this card I wanted to highlight the more subtle beauty of the female. With a warm, pale brown and tinges of red throughout, the female northern cardinal is a true original flitting amongst the trees and bushes east of the Rockies.

Printed on 100% recycled paper and includes a 100% recycled envelope.

The has the largest facial disk of any owl, giving its head a large, round appearance. Another conspicuous feature is the white "bow tie" that sits under its bill.

The amazing snowy owl, the second largest in North America. The plumage of the female, like the one depicted here, is dappled throughout with dark flecks whereas the male's tends to be purer white.

Every print is made from 100% recycled post-consumer waste and a portion from every sale goes to the preservation of bird habitats in North America.

The great gray owl is the largest in North America, although its size is a bit of a mirage: hidden underneath the thick, fluffy feathers is a body that's smaller than other owls, including the great horned owl and snowy owl.

Hello there! Waxwing Press is a celebration of the amazing creatures we call birds, specifically those living in present day North America. We aim to appeal to life-long bird lovers while also to inspire newcomers to appreciate the birds around us.
