I’m delighted to share that I am the new Social Sector Practice Leader for Artemis Connection, a women-owned, strategy-consulting firm here in Seattle. Alongside this role, I am continuing my 19-year practice at Meiser Communications.

Together we plan to help foundations and nonprofits succeed during highly disruptive times. As an example, the largest generational wealth transfer is coming in US history. Will it bring more resources for the public good or will it worsen the wealth gap? I'm excited to dive in!

Strategic consulting helping C-level executives achieve goals through organizational design, innovation, M&A, and transformation. 130+ clients since 2015.

Looking back on 2024, one highlight was celebrating The Rensselaerville Institute's 60th anniversary in NYC. Here, staff and school leaders speak about what TRI means to them.

As we move through life, we hopefully achieve most of our goals in relationships, career and finances. Some of that happens serendipitously and some through careful planning.

I’ve enjoyed getting to know Cynthia Hall at Integrated Law PLLC. She’s a trusted advisor in pivotal moments like preparing a will, taxes, divorce, end of life, and starting a business. I’ve learned so much through the process of producing her new website and refreshing her company's brand.

The Seattle Times reports that Washington’s unemployment system denies claims at a rate well above other high-income states. A new study by the Unemployment Law Project informs the story and puts a human face on the experience.

Washington has one of the nation’s most generous unemployment programs. But COVID-era problems, budget cuts and policy changes mean fewer people get benefits.

The Unemployment Law Project in Seattle has just released a study on how workers experienced Washington’s unemployment system between 2022 and 2023. It was a maddening experience. KUOW-FM dives into the issue.

Last month, joblessness our state reached its highest levels since the Covid-19 pandemic – higher than the national average. And the first thing many do when they’ve lost a job is file for unemployment benefits. But Washington’s unemployment system itself is still reeling from the one-two punc...

I stopped by and saw my friends from The Rensselaerville Institute at the NABSE conference this morning in New Orleans. We are producing TRI’s 60th anniversary celebration together.

Every meeting should include a youth marching band 🎺🎺🎺

King County, Wash. has been in the vanguard by investing in community-led, restorative-justice practices to divert young people from the criminal justice system. The County’s goal is that its youth jail will sit empty by 2025.

I’m learning so much about restorative justice and was proud to work with RVC, which recently showcased a few of the changemakers leading this work.

With gratitude to our partners, Creative Justice, Restorative Pathways (RCP), and WA-BLOC (Washington Building Leaders for Change) for sharing their voices.T...

Kicked off a fantastic strategic-planning series in April with the Social Justice Film Festival, bringing together our founders and new executive director Sam Hampton. They have exciting ideas for the future.

After these tough pandemic years, their message to filmmakers is “Don’t give up.”

Attended an uplifting celebration last night by Restorative Community Pathways, a new initiative with King County and the Prosecutor’s Office to redirect youth in the criminal justice system to alternative pathways that reduce gun violence and create connection for at-risk youth. This bold initiative is in startup mode and they’ve built out a lot this first year. As one participant writes below:

“Bullets and bombs are not what make change, the real weapons are through knowledge.”

The Rensselaerville Institute has partnered with Escambia County School District since 2018, turning around nine schools that once stood on an urgent watch list for low achievement by Florida’s state Board of Education. Two schools were upgraded this summer. Kudos to the principals and teachers who improved their students' reading and math, even during the pandemic! https://inweekly.net/the-search-to-improve-schools/

Eleven Escambia schools graded out as a D or F for the 2021-22 year. Overshadowed by that sobering statistic are the significant gains by Holm and Warrington elementary schools--thanks to the Rensselaerville Institute.
