๐จ๏ธ ALLEN & DOUGLAS:
Born in Birmingham (UK) and inspired by a kaleidoscope of artists and creators we - ALLEN & DOUGLAS - are too honest to be magpies. We do our own thing! Song-writing began circa 1983/4 evolving from fun: witty ditties for confused strangers on buses and in the chippy. Houdini kids ~ daft but evolving fast!
We have always respected genuine talented giants and underground innovators. From Two-tone to Madness to Studio 1 to Neil Young to Jason Molina to the blues and soul and jazz et al we're knowledgeable autodidacts.
Hip and joined at the hip since 1979. Our canvas is life, beauty and beasts, love affairs, comic thought, cosmic thought, crazy highs, sad goodbyes and emotional fallout. We've had our kicks, good and bad. Doors were blasted open a tad too wide but we're still here, relentless, not yet a parody, pushing kindness and compassion which is precisely where we began ~ forged by race riots, exploitation and little help or hope for the bullied majority.
Our credo is not part-time or calculated, it's us. Get yourselves a fly on the wall and you will see we have "the crack". Our days are full of crazy fissures in thought and reality but good thought challenging bad ideas is for us ~ necessary, applaudable and cool.
We are not Gandalfs and have no passports or secret portals to Avalon. We left there aeons ago but we know a trick or two. All the evidence is in our work ~

2021, time flies.
Many moons ago we were strumming away, practicing harmonies and vocals in old railway stations and under canal bridges. The echoes were ace and while it was not plush it was a fantastic fun baptism and cheap: the entrance fee being warm Harrington jackets, Fred Perry T-shirts, 10 B&H and a few cans.
Now ~ we're too old for such shenanigans, preferring to reminisce and burst out laughing in-between takes in a modest, small, decidedly INDIE bedroom studio.
