We're also really proud to announce In addition to the 4Culture Doors Open Facilities Grant for Sky Artworks building improvements (see our previous post), we are proud to share that Third Place Technologies (our parent 501c3) also received a three-year Sustained Support grant from 4Culture! Thanks to the transformative legislation, this year’s award comes with increased support, empowering us to deepen our impact across King County, WA.

Over the past two years, Third Place Technologies has evolved into a tale of two cities, supporting mission-driven activities in both Skykomish, Washington and in Capitol Hill, Seattle. Through collaborative spaces, exhibitions, workshops, and events, we provide opportunities for interdisciplinary exchange, lifelong learning, and public access to innovative art at the intersections of technology, design, and civic engagement. This generous grant fuels our ability to:
🌟 Upgrade and Expand Sky Artworks: Our thriving makerspace and gallery in Skykomish offering shared resources, workshops, and exhibitions.
🌟 Host our Electric Sky Art+Tech Retreat: Our annual creative camping retreat & pop up maker lab in the Skykomish Ballpark, where artists and technologists collaborate on thematic projects.
🌟 Advance the Passable Art Makerspace: where Third Place Technologies hosts monthly pop-up art shows in Capitol Hill exploring cutting-edge mediums like AI, creative coding, and electronics during the Capitol Hill Art Walk
🌟 Plan other public & community events: Building on the success of Seattle: CityoftheFuture (2023), we’re planning another immersive arts-and-tech hackathon and art exhibition.
Again, we want to thank District 3 King County Councilmember Sarah Perry who has been extremely supportive of our endeavors in Sky Artworks, and our King County Executive Dow Constantine and the King County Council as a whole for passing legislation. This investment creates a meaningful and lasting impact for economically and geographically underserved rural areas like Northeast King County and the Upper Sky Valley, as well as historically marginalized urban communities.
Here’s to creating spaces where art, technology, and community intersect—and to a future of bold innovation! Learn more about our work at THIRD PLACE TECHNOLOGIES: https://lnkd.in/deEDWeuZ and https://ThirdPlaceTechnologies.com
