Egrets? I’ve had a few. (But this one is my favorite.)
There is something about the way a Great Egret stands so perfectly still that makes you hold your breath. I’ve been wanting to capture that “white watcher” energy for a while now.
I started with a collagraph plate to get all those organic, crinkly textures in the feathers, then went back in with watercolor. It’s a bit of a slow process, but I think the layering was worth it.

Dad always dropped everything for the little myna that visited our 7th-floor balcony. They’d share a few notes, a brief conversation, and he’d be left with the widest smile. Now, when I see a chickadee or a junco in my own yard, it’s like a hello from him. These monotypes are my way of keeping that song going.

I love how, when seagulls land, they glide in, pause for a moment as if listening to the wind, and then fold their wings. A moment of stillness in motion.

I had a fascinating conversation with a fellow printmaker at my Pike Place Market table this week. I adore the tiny Pacific Spiny Lumpsuckers. Uncharitably named, but accurate.


The past year was one of milestones and growth. I created my first large-scale print and ventured into woodblocks, collages, and collagraphs. I worked on new linocut prints, big and small.
I had the privilege of participating in my first craft show and even gave a live printmaking demo. It was a year full of firsts, new lessons, and creative breakthroughs.
It was also a year of personal growth, focusing on building a creative space that inspires me, while embracing the importance of being more present. For me, that also meant stepping back from social media a bit and simply being in the moment.
This year I hope to share more, focus on building community and making art that fosters joy and connection. Thank you for being here. I see you, and I’m grateful for you.

Ever raced hermit crabs at the beach? You can line them up and watch them go where they want, when they want, as they will.
That’s it. No rules. No finish line.
In other news, I will be at the Inscape Open House next Sunday, June 9th from noon to 6 pm. (Details in my stories)
