Sand City’s newest murals just pop! Stunning artwork by 8 more artists on 5 more walls were created last week. This brings the tiny town’s total to over 70 murals by my count! And their commitment to public art surpasses every other town in my county by miles.

All weeek!!!!!

Here we gooooo! WE Create Mural Festival is here! We will be announcing our 6 muralist over the next few days.

The festival dates are officially September 30th - October 4th. However, you may see some artists beginning on the evening of October 29th and some painting through the 5th.

On October 4th we will end our week with a battle between local artists and music played by This will take place outside of Post No Bills from 3-6:45pm. More info to come.

A few of the creatures from the Ewoldsen Nature Center mural by Ann Thiermann. This lovely mural completely covers the 4 interior walls and depicts flora and fauna native to the park.

Looking forward to celebrating one of Seaside's new murals!

The City of Seaside is proud to announce the completion of a freshly painted mural at the Cutino Skate Park, located at the corner of Noche Buena Street and San Pablo Avenue.

The City of Seaside's Public Art Program was established to enhance cultural and aesthetic qualities of life for the citizens of Seaside. La Neta Murals, a local artist, was selected from a number of applicants.

Our Neighborhood Improvement Commission, Art and History Commission, Parks and Recreation Commission, along with city staff came together to review applications and made a final selection in April 2024. La Neta completed the mural in June 2024.

FatsPatrol, Region Six Bronze Award Artist Awards Artist Awards are given out to individual artists/teams who designed and completed the submitted mural. What a wonderful response.
Count me among those who see it, and welcome it, as a beautiful and inventive contribution to my town. The artist, Hanif Panni, is a very talented muralist and a gem of a human being.
To those who consider it a violation: if it is, it’s a creative form of civil disobedience. (And it’s not the only boat mural on someone’s fence in Seaside. There are 2 small ones only blocks from this one.)

Images of the fence have gone viral online, with thousands of comments across social media.

Jane Kim of Ink Dwell had an exhibit at the Monterey Museum of Art not too long ago. You can’t find one of her murals in Monterey County (yet?) but up the road you can see one in Half Moon Bay and 2 in San Francisco. She’s also connected to the Monterey Bay Area in another important way: she has a certificate in scientific illustration from CSUMP.
