Yes, castles are still made at "Sculpture" contests.
Because who doesn't just love a castle!
We are lucky to have Scott Dodson, from Coeur d'Alene ID coming back to Seaside this year.
Scott does castles, (Not sure I've ever seen him do anything else in sand yet...), and they are "WOW!" castles!

Scott is multi talented, having a music business, and is a retired wood stove business, As well as sculptures you can find in the SandFest Merch tent.

𝙎𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 𝙎𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙁𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙃𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙡 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙣𝙚𝙧𝙨
We bring in 10 master sculptors, 9 Advanced amateurs, 2 Sand Camp instructors, and 4 staff for this event.
We have to feed and house them somewhere.
Luckily, we have hotel partners that will house them.
We ask for a couple rooms from each hotel.
Thankfully, the hotels understand we are growing an event that brings people to Seaside.

𝙍𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧 𝙄𝙣𝙣 𝙖𝙩 𝙎𝙚𝙖𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚 is one such hotel partner.
They have hosted sculptors since we started the event.

We are lucky that many of the hotels in Seaside help us host the visiting sculptors.
The SaltLine Hotel has helped us every year since the start of Seaside SandFest.

We couldn't do it without the rooms hotels give us.

𝙎𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝘼𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙨𝙩 𝙖𝙩 𝙎𝙖𝙣𝙙𝙁𝙚𝙨𝙩
Sculptors coming this year!
This is Jim Butler's 3rd appearance at Seaside SandFest.
Jim is a staple in the Pacific NW sand events. He got his start at the Olympia Sand in the City®, as a team architect. He soon put together a team to compete at the beach in the Masters Team category at Ocean Shores, Long Beach and Cannon Beach. Winning many times.
Jim has also had success as a solo sculptor. Winning the Advanced Amatuer contest at the Texas SandFest (And as one judge has told me, should have won it several times now.)
Jim also runs a great Quick Carve sand event in Olympia each year for Labor Day as part of Lake Fair.
And of course, Jim's double arch dragon won the People's Choice at last year's Seaside SandFest.
It's always a pleasure to see what Jim will come up with to make every event. Please welcome Jim back to Seaside SandFest.
