Preview pictures and details for tomorrow & Sunday! The Sales Cabin at Jugtown is full with pots from the wood kiln. We had a great firing, with a really nice and diverse group of pots. This weekend is the Seagrove Wood Fire Tour, and 14 shops in our area participate in this self guided tour. Pick up a map and ride through the countryside to visit some great makers. Here at Jugtown, we will be open Saturday, June 6, 8:30-5:00 & Sunday, June 7, 10:00-4:00. We look forward to seeing you!

Some thoughts about using a wood fired kiln to produce pottery, with pieces in Frogskin to show nuances that we do, and in some cases do not, have control over when they’re in the kiln. Just some things for you all to think about when watching our videos or visiting Jugtown and seeing the pots in person!

The first of two videos for today discussing glazes in the wood fired Groundhog kiln. These are examples of glazes and pots we’ve fired this past weekend that will be available this coming weekend, June 6-7 here at Jugtown!

Another step when preparing for a wood firing in the Groundhog kiln that ties into yesterday’s video about the gravel floor. This weekend all the new pots will be out of the kiln and available for sale in the Sales Cabin here at Jugtown. We hope to see you!

Here’s all you wanted to know about the floor of the Groundhog kiln! Hope this is interesting & informative!

A very abbreviated tour of the Groundhog kilns here at Jugtown. It’s hard to get all the information into a brief video, but hopefully this gives a little insight into how this style kiln works. Feel free to chime in with questions!

We will soon be firing the Groundhog kiln here at Jugtown, and the new pots will be out June 6-7. In the meantime, we will share some videos about the wood firing process. Look for those and let us know if you have questions, as these videos are hopefully going to bring new things to light and start the discussion about parts of what we do that you might not have seen. Thanks for following along - we’re looking forward to sharing new pots & hope to see you soon here at Jugtown!

Last month, we delivered these teapots to for National Teapot Show XIII. We’re thrilled to have a teapot from each of us at Jugtown in this phenomenal show that brings together work from across the US. The show is now live for preview on their website, with sales beginning tomorrow. Check out Cedar Creek Gallery in Creedmoor, NC - they have an amazing spot filled with exceptional work from many artists and craftspeople, and we’re always excited to work with them!

The Sales Cabin looks wonderful with the addition of new pieces from this week’s firing! There are some great serving pieces, candlesticks, mugs, and bowls, and a selection of plates available. We don’t often have individual plates available, and we wanted to make sure to highlight them, as we’ve had several customers request that we announce when plates are out of the kiln. Also, with our ongoing Jugtown Museum renovations and display updates, we’ve got several vintage pieces available right now. It’s exciting for us to see these pots we’ve enjoyed go to new homes rather than be packed away!
There are lots of pots, and the Sales Cabin will be well stocked until our next firings in a couple weeks, so even if you can’t make it this weekend, we hope you plan to stop by soon & look forward to your visit!
