They’ve clearly had enough.

The Great Donkey Revolt of 1921 has arrived in Dillon, and judging by those faces, negotiations may already be over.

This is one of those paintings where the characters seem to take charge of the story themselves. I’ll leave the exact cause of the uprising to your imagination—but I strongly recommend meeting the ringleaders in person.

I’m at the Lake Dillon Arts Festival this weekend with original watercolors filled with color, movement, character, and the occasional act of rebellion. Stop by booths 54–55, take a closer look, and tell me which donkey you think started it.

Final day in Edwards.
I’d love to see a few more familiar faces—and a few new ones—before the show wraps up today.

This is the kind of detail that’s easy to miss in a quick scroll.
Watercolor has a way of changing when you slow down and get close.

These round butterfly originals have been fun to share in person.
They’re quiet, but they still bring plenty of color and movement with them.

A little softer. A little simpler.
Still very much its own small world.

There’s a good mix in the booth today—wild things, riders, moonlight, color, and a few characters who seem to know exactly where they’re going.

If you’re in Edwards or the Vail Valley today, come find me before 5.

Watercolor has a lot more presence than people expect.

Thank you to The Park Hill Art Festival for featuring my work. I’m looking forward to being there June 6 and 7 with original watercolors full of color, movement, character, and story.

Seeing the work in person is always different than seeing it on a screen. You get the scale, the surface, the energy, and the little details that make each original feel alive.

Watercolor does not have to whisper.

Fall Colors is a 48 x 24 original watercolor where the aspens hold still, but everything around them seems to move. The color rises, scatters, and shifts like autumn caught between memory and imagination.

That is the part I love about painting. It does not have to repeat the world exactly as it is. It can ask you to step into the world as it could be.

Not every story is told from the front.

Sometimes you follow it.

Eight riders. No one looking back.

There’s no rush here. Just direction, rhythm, and the kind of quiet that comes after a long day well spent.

This is where the painting lives.

Not in the detail, but in the feeling of moving with it.

At scale, it settles into a space and holds it.
Warmth, movement, and a sense that something just happened… or is about to.

Just imagine standing in that room, and this is the piece that keeps pulling you back.
