Art by Cobos Art by Cobos is by appointment only When I was young I spent my days roaming free on my Great Uncles’ ranch.

In addition to Pecan Trees, Alfalfa, and Wheat, his ranch always seemed to grow multitudes of rustic farm equipment and weathered metal pieces. At this playground of sorts, my love for antiques and metal work was born. By his side I learned to respect the metal and how to join each piece with a welder, creating useful and beautiful things from items others had discarded. The media used to create m

y art is generally found in the discard pile of junk yards and farms; “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure.” The inspiration for the creation of each sculpture generally starts with my coming across either an antique or a piece of unusual metal. A dragon may be fashioned from a 1950’s typewriter or a vintage hay rake and antique projector may become a sculpture of a Running Man. Through the years I am always looking for unique media to use to express my creativity. Recently I have come across another item usually discarded and have found the material perfect for sculpting. Machine shops are commissioned to manufacture steel with pre-punched bolt holes. In stamping out the holes small rivets are produced and discarded. This media has suited me perfectly in creating everything from horses to torsos, allowing me to expand my unique style and technique.
