In a time, long forgotten, people relied solely on their local Potter for necessary vessels needed i "Hand Made" is a thing of the past.

Handcrafted ceramic pottery is a long and prestigious profession that reaches far back in all cultures in history. Unfortunately, because of societal demands, the art of hand crafted pottery has become a thing of the past. These days, one can purchase a large variety of inexpensive ceramics made by the thousands in far away factories using molds and cheap labor to fulfill the needs of growing popu

lations. As The Bearded Potter I have come to the conclusion that this needs to change. There are those of you out there who appreciate a beautiful, and functional, hand crafted vessel and it is my goal to bring back to life the dying art that is Handmade Pottery.

It looks like it’s been nearly a year since I posted that I was going to start potting again…. Well the year went by and due to a new job and some health issues I just didn’t quite get back to it as I wanted to.

Then on 12/23/2025 I had a Widow Maker Heart Attack. Which I survived and am doing well.
Then on 12/24/2025 (my birthday) my little town of Lytle Creek was hit by a devastating flash flood. It took out the rooms I live in and my wife works in. It took out my entire yard. Including but not limited to, my entire pottery studio and all my equipment and supplies. The photos show whats left. Idk when Ill get another chance to get back to the wheel.
THANKFULLY what did survive was my main Kiln Gonzo and probably my other kilns too cuz he saved them like a mother bird under his wing.
So I do have somewhere to start from at least.
I have My Life and My Family and that’s what really matters.

THE TIME HAS COME!!
The Bearded Potter Is Coming Back!
Its been 5 long years that I have been gone.
In that time I Gave Up.
I fell into Alcoholism and Depression.
I Lost everything, my Relationship and my Home
Then, I GOT SOBER! (3 years now!)
2 years after working on myself out in Arizona I moved back home Thanks to the Love and Support from my Amazing wife Sandy.
Without Her my Life is not complete.
With Her we can accomplish anything and everything.
It’s been a long year back rebuilding our home and lives together.
Now She has motivated me to get out to the shed and turn it back into The Bearded Potter’s Studio!
Let Fu***ng GO Baby!

Thank You All as well for your continued Support of my Art. Im Back Now and I’ll be sharing the progress as it happens. There is No “New Year New Me” here. It’s Time for me to get back to what I love to do more than ANYTHING in the world!

THE BEARDED POTTER IS BACK BABY! Here are the first mugs thrown in the new studio and in more than 6 months off from moving to our new house. These are the first 12 mugs thrown, I weighed out 13 but my stamina was waning and I made one mistake. Just like riding a bike, but my arms are tired. Tomorrow I’ll throw 30 more and handle them to fill the kiln.

Step 3 complete. Shelves up, wheel in place, AND I built my own work bench thats built into the wall. No longer a storage shed, The Bearded Potter has a Studio!!! Feast your eyes upon a potter’s carpentry skills!!! We’re almost there guys.

Step #2 is complete. Gonzo the Kiln and the propane tank are set up. All I need to do now is run a longer gas line to Gonzo and set up my shed as an interim production area and The Bearded Potter is ready to rock and roll! Should be ready by the end of next week. Thanks to Wood Propane for all your help and support, I couldn’t have done it without you!!!

The Bearded Potter did a thing today! With the help of Dave Snyder Alburt Drake and my buddy George, We now have a slab of concrete for my future studio!! The doggies also added some decoration and everyone involved signed their name. I dont even need a building yet to get back to work, just my kilns and propane baby! So, coming soon to a theater near you The Bearded Potter will be back in action. Thank You everyone for your help and I cant wait to play in the mud again. And thank you everyone else for your patients.
