Annette posting: I am a Christian and a sinner, but because I am a Christian I do state my opinion and do try to make this a better world.
The world is constantly changing. Some things we have power over. Some things we don't, but we can articulate our opinions at regulatory board public meetings and in the editorial sections of newspapers and sometimes in online groups from our area.
When I was in elementary school in Denver, Colorado there was a judge that gave the approval for zoning a residential home to be made into a business and a bar. The house was located in an area that was too close to the elementary school for even a regular bar to open in that location according to our zoning code. My mom and I went to every single house in the area and distributed petitions against the bar for adults to sign and mail in,(that business was already well on the way to getting all licenses and permits needed because one judge had approved a few "variances" to the zoning code). We have to hold on strong to our faith. The regulatory agency decided against the bars location due to it's proximity to the elementary school. The regulatory agency wrote us months later to please quit distributing petitions because we had won, we wrote them back telling them we quit distibuting those months ago when we saw the local paper say that that location would remain residential housing and not become a business.
Side thought: I was only a kid when the petitions went out, and only adults can sign petitions, but kids can distribute!
No matter the outcome we will always try to protect our families and community. Our faith is strong, and the Bible does tell us to bring our problems to our Lord, so pray for protection and help in all things.
They may call me old fashioned, trying to "enforce" old rules and regulations and this is a new world and maybe even call me a "Karen". I truly want what is "right" for this community. Some things need to be zoned and must follow every regulation for that particular zone, disregard for safety or regulations on a regular basis should mean fines that get higher for continued disobeyance and if always not compliant a possibly a shutdown and the license or permit forfeited.
You don't put a dry cement factory in the middle of an area that floods regularly, and you don't put this type of business close to an area that is normally frequented by families with children.
My thoughts and prayers are for the good of the community.
