Please join us in congratulating Emma on her 1‑year work anniversary at the Historic Midwest Theater. We are incredibly grateful for everything she has done this past year for both the theater and the community we serve.

Emma first joined us as a volunteer in high school and has continued to be an invaluable asset ever since. Her love for the arts and history makes the theater a perfect home for her talents.

Now, as our Events Coordinator, Emma works closely with everyone involved in bringing events to the theater. She also supports and organizes our volunteers, ensuring they are prepared to serve the community with excellence. And if that wasn’t impressive enough, she also manages promotional materials from posters to social media.

Thank you, Emma, for all the amazing work you do. We’re so lucky to have you!

Scholarships open doors to opportunity and help set students up for success at WNCC.

The Van Boskirk Family Endowed Scholarship is one example of a legacy that continues to make a difference. Established by the Van Boskirk family in memory of Dr. Thom Van Boskirk, the scholarship supports students pursuing their education in WNCC’s Health Sciences programs.

Dr. Van Boskirk was a strong supporter of higher education and WNCC. Through this scholarship, his legacy lives on by helping students pursue their goals and prepare for careers that make a difference in the lives of others.

We are grateful to the Van Boskirk family for honoring Dr. Van Boskirk's memory in a way that makes a difference to WNCC students.

Volunteers are the heart and soul of the Midwest Theater!
⭐This month's volunteer spotlight is on Sharyn, Arden, and Blake Wohlers⭐

Sharyn Wohlers has served on the Friends of the Midwest Theater Board of Directors for 20 years. She, her husband Arden, and their son Blake volunteer at the Midwest Theater every month—and they’ve been doing so for as long as volunteering has been an option. We asked Sharyn some questions about her experience.

Why do you volunteer at the Midwest Theater?
"I worked in the theater in Hemingford as a teenager and wanted to volunteer in the theater down here, too."

What is your favorite thing about volunteering at Midwest Theater?
"I love interacting with the people who come to the theater to see movies. I love theater popcorn, too."

How long have you and your family volunteered at the Midwest Theater?
"We've been here for a long time. I have been a member of a volunteer team since the theater reopened [in 1998]."
