Lightroom Selected to be one of the U.S. Firms at the Palazzo Bembo - 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale ATLANTA, GA

Lightroom, an interdisciplinary architecture and design practice based in Atlanta, has been invited to participate as a foreign exhibitor at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale — the world’s most prestigious architectural exhibition. The firm’s selection marks a significant moment for Atlanta’s design community and reinforces Lightroom’s growing international presence in critical architectural discourse.

The Biennale, held every two years in Venice, Italy, showcases the most influential voices in contemporary architecture from around the globe. Lightroom’s exhibition, titled Ambient Atmosphere, explores the intersection of architecture, painting, and sound to create immersive spatial environments rooted in phenomenology and the sensory experience of place. Drawing on the firm’s longstanding engagement with material intelligence, craft, and interdisciplinary collaboration, the installation presents a body of work that bridges theoretical research and built form.

“We are deeply honored to bring our work to Venice and to contribute to a global dialogue on architecture’s capacity to evoke meaning, memory, and atmosphere,” said Chad D. Reineke, AIA, Associate Principal at Lightroom. “This invitation affirms the importance of quiet, crafted work — and of Atlanta’s voice — on the international stage.”

“This is more than an exhibition — it’s a continuation of Lightroom’s legacy of merging design with cultural inquiry,” said Dr. William Carpenter, FAIA, DPACSA founding principal of Lightroom. “Venice is a place where architecture meets philosophy, and we are proud to present work that reflects the depth and ambition of the Atlanta design community.”

The 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale opens to the public on May 11, with preview events beginning earlier that week as part of the Biennale’s Vernissage celebrations.

This milestone underscores Lightroom’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of architectural practice through research-driven design and cultural engagement. The firm extends its gratitude to AIA Atlanta, YKK AP and Oliver Stepe for their assistance with the exhibit, its collaborators, and the broader architectural community for their continued support.
