The Circus Arts Therapy® series is now complete!

Level 3 builds on the foundations of Levels 1 and 2 to help clinicians confidently integrate movement, play, regulation, creativity, advanced juggling, hooping and connection into therapeutic practice with greater intention and clinical understanding.

This final course helps round out the full model of Circus Arts Therapy® giving therapists a more comprehensive understanding of how circus-based interventions can support engagement, relationship-building, and therapeutic growth across a variety of populations and settings.

In this unique training, you’ll explore how to:

Demonstrate how to integrate advanced hula hooping and ball juggling exercises into your practice and discuss their therapeutic application.
🧠Apply executive functions and identify primary learning modalities in the Circus Arts Therapy® room
🤝 Discuss and integrate evidence-based interventions and their application in the Circus Arts Therapy® room
🛠️ Utilize tools for empowerment and their application in Circus Arts Therapy®
🎪 Market your Circus Arts Therapy® program

Whether you’re continuing from Levels 1 and 2 or ready to complete the full series, this training, This course is grounded in research published in the International Journal of Play Therapy and offers practical ways to bring movement, creativity, and regulation into clinical work.

✨Hi, I’m Carrie Heller-Altfield (or Carrie Heller for those who knew me way back when). You’ll sometimes see me posting here, but I’m not the only one behind the scenes!

🌍 I’ve been part of the circus world for over 50 years—starting as a student, then a performer, then a teacher, and now a trainer and mentor. Circus has been my passion for as long as I can remember, and I love sharing it with others. At Circus Arts Institute, our mission is to spread the joy, healing, and fun of circus—because I truly believe it has the power to help repair the world in its own way.

💜 Although Cloudswing was my first love, I soon fell for trapeze and later Spanish Web. The video shared is a special memory from the 1970s—my second summer at Camp Keystone. I was chosen to perform Spanish Web. The year before, when I was eight, I was still learning aerials and performed gymnastics; but by this summer, I was ready to fly. The footage was originally shot on my Dad’s 8mm camera (may his memory be a blessing), and it’s so special to have this little piece of my circus journey. 💫
✨I’ll be forever grateful to all those involved in my experience at Camp Keystone where I was introduced to circus!
