Atlanta singer-songwriter , the creative force behind Sloping and , has an undeniable dedication to the craft of songwriting—one that almost borders on obsession. A clear disciple of some of the most celebrated and methodical indie folk songwriters of the past few decades such as Elliott Smith, Phil Elverum, Stephin Merritt, Bill Callahan, Sloping is Posway’s designated outlet for his most intimate and carefully-constructed work.

Posway’s penchant for fiercely honest and meticulous storytelling was immediately apparent on the band’s ephemeral 2021 debut album ‘Completed Songs’ for sound as language 
 like a water-damaged photo album filled with half-legible snapshots of fleeting sensory details and quiet dissatisfaction.

đŸ“ŒđŸŽ¶ Maggie FM x | Atlanta-based indie rocker performs “Rusts” off the album ‘Candy Lights Orchids’ live at Standard Electric Recorders Co.

Maggie FM is the new solo project of guitarist and songwriter Maggie Geeslin, who is joined by Rand Kelly (.slaps) with Gep Repasky and Matteo De Lurgio (also of Lunar Vacation). Maggie released her debut album ‘Candy Lights Orchids’ in November 2025, and has another on the way. Listed as one of ’s top tracks of the year, “Rusts” is possibly the highlight of the record, “featuring two delightfully discordant, hypnotizing post-chorus bridges, the song juxtaposes feelings of hope and internal doubt.”

đŸ“ŒđŸŽ¶ Janie Danger x | Atlanta-based indie rock project Janie Danger () performs their song “God Wet Rust” live at Standard Electric Recorders Co.

Janie Danger is a “hypnagogic powerviolence and transcendental hyperpunk artist” from Atlanta, producing some of the most potent and volatile grindcore and noise punk in the city. Janie released her first single in 2020, followed by two full-length albums and a string of dual singles. (All available on Bandcamp.) Janie’s new song “In God Wet Rust”—a departure from Janie’s typical grindcore sound, substituting darker, aggressive tones with an upbeat, reflective, noise-drenched Americana epilogue—is one of the oldest songs in her arsenal. The song will be released on Janie’s upcoming album; for now, it is here in this exclusive performance.

đŸ“ŒđŸŽ¶ Safety Switch x | Atlanta-based indie rock project performs their song “Host” live at Standard Electric Recorders Co.

Safety Switch, formed in 2025, is a new Atlanta-based project comprised of some of the indie scene’s heaviest hitters, featuring Tom Sinclair (Elesa Sparkle, major) and Tim Holder (Bathe Alone, Sleepers Club) on guitar, Anna Griffith (Bathe Alone, Sleepers Club) on bass, and Mason Palanti (Mallbangs, Scattrbrain, Sleepers Club) on drums. The four-piece brings a nearly exorcising sound that combines the ‘90s DIY post-punk twang of Slint, the incandescent slow rock disco of Dry Cleaning, and the emotional drive of ‘In Utero’-era Nirvana. What started out as a side project between four friends while working on respective projects comes a new indie rock sound the Atlanta scene needs.

đŸ“ŒđŸŽ¶ SMALL x | Atlanta-based art rock project performs their song “Surveillance!” live at Standard Electric Recorders Co.

SMALL is a punk trio based in Atlanta that formed in 2019 and released its debut EP that same year. Six years later, the three-piece has made a big name for themselves outside of their hometown, touring up and down the east coast and other parts of the U.S. The band has released one full-length, two EPs, and six singles since its inception.

The song featured in this episode, “Surveillance!”, was released by the band in February 2025 and is a testament to what it’s like to live in one of the most surveilled cities in the world. (Atlanta remains the most surveilled city in the U.S. today, with around 24,800 cameras available to law enforcement. That’s 124 surveillance cameras per 1,000 people.)

If you go outside in Atlanta, chances are you’re being watched. In the words of SMALL vocalist Samm Severin, “If they’re always watching, welcome to the show.”

BAUMS released their debut self-titled EP in Nov 2025, following a string of single releases starting in 2024. They’ve built an organic buzz both locally and online, drawing fans in with atypical song structures with hues of noise rock, post-punk, experimental, jazz, and prog delivered through captivating, groove-driven performances.

“Moonglow” is an unreleased single that will be on the band’s forthcoming album due out later this year.

MUELAS is a five-piece heavy band built on dueling vocals, electric violin, low-tuned guitars, and hardcore-adjacent riffs that refuse to sit still. Their name translates to “molars”—and by extension, “to grind”—a fitting shorthand for emotionally sharp and intentional sets that hit like a demolition job.

đŸ“ŒđŸŽ¶ major x | Atlanta-based indie alt-rock outfit major performs a special version “Upset, Honey / Nu Metal Friends” off their debut EP live in Standard Electric Recorders Co.

major is a six-piece Atlanta-based indie “southern goth” rock project led by musician/producer (Marvelous 3, ex-Mansell), with members Tom Sinclair (, ), Meg Jiles, Trent Bilodeau (ex-Mansell), Will Velleca, and Ethan Parks (). The band released its debut EP ‘Leanin’’ in October 2024, followed by its single “7 Year Itch” in January 2025. The project released its dual single “No Man, No Why / Homepark” in June 2025 and is preparing to release its debut full-length album in May 2026.

Their newest single will be released on all streaming services on April 3. In the meantime, enjoy this killer session of “Upset, Honey / Nu Metal Friends,” which was originally featured on their debut EP in 2024.

đŸ“ŒđŸŽ¶ Upchuck x | Atlanta-based punk outfit performs “Slow Down” live at . Watch the full performance here and on YouTube.

“Slow Down” is off Upchuck’s latest record ‘I’m Nice Now’ (via ) which is the third full-length album the band has released since forming in 2018. The band gained a cult following in Atlanta following the release of their debut album ‘Sense Yourself.’ Their sophomore album ‘Bite the Hand That Feeds,’ produced by guitar wizard Ty Segall, helped the band land spots opening for Faye Webster and Amyl and the Sniffers, where they mesmerized crowds with their energetic live sets. With ‘I’m Nice Now,’ the band channels their feverishness into an album that is filled with rage along with a continuation of their musical exorcism. In the groove-heavy “Slow Down,” lead vocalist KT sings about breaking the constraints of internalized capitalism and embracing one’s humanity.

đŸ“ŒđŸŽ¶ Makenna Lyric x | Originally from Missoula and now based in Atlanta, 23-year-old producer and songwriter explores the space between what is and what’s been lost through her unique combination of folk and ambient influences. Her song “Mystified,” featured in this week’s episode, is a track off her new album ‘Carve It On Every Stone,’ streaming everywhere now.

Fully self-produced, ‘Carve It On Every Stone’ is Makenna’s second full-length album. She has also released two EPs, along with her first full-length album, ‘Leap!’ in 2024.
