FRIDAY 10/18 - winners of "Live and Local' The Stinks take the stage 8:00-11:00 PM!!! Big announcements for Live and Local as well!!

SATURDAY 10/19 - 12:00-11:00PM JAMTOBERFEST!!! The Cat House Band takes the stage 3-3:45!!!

I am so excited to be a part of all this and can't wait 🙌🥰🔥

Hey everyone! Bittersweet news to share with you all.. The Heart and Soul Cafe is officially closed for public. (we will hold private events and more on that to come..). But as one door closes, another opens! I am excited to announce the coming of our Skippack Village cultural arts center! We are now offering group lessons for ages 7-11 and 11-15 in music and art. You can read the class description in the photo below. 6 week sessions guaranteed to expand the mind, foster new ideas, and make you appreciate the arts. Small class sizes help ensure a one on one experience.
The arts are the first to go away in our schools and I really feel it is important to keep this going. This part of the brain used fosters more emotions and unlocks knowledge you never even knew you had. Join us as we help to improve our little part of the world!

Cool stuff!!

Bebber ???...Skippack Township's early name!
Some interesting map study from 1775. We see Skippack labeled as "Bebber". Mathias Van Bebber was a Dutch land speculator that bought the acres of Perkiomen & Skippack Township from William Penn for resale. It is possible that Bebber, mostly residing in Baltimore Maryland, never even visited the township he subdivided. What else can we see here at this time?:
1. There is no Upper and Lower Providence yet, no Collegeville either, just Trappe indicated as "Lutheran Church".
2. The Merions are however already divided into Upper and Lower.
3. The great town of Norristown is only in its infancy, and the general area known only as "Norrington". No divided Norritons yet.
4. "Bonner's" is most likely Fairview Village, where the prominent Bonner/Bunner family once resided, friends of George Washington.
5. Limerick is spelled "Limmerick".
6. Phoenixville does not exist yet.
7. Note the spelling of "Toamensong" for neighboring Towamencin Township.
Note: there is also Towamensing Township of Carbon County.
8. Note the spelling of "Truduffrin" for
Tredyffrin Township (Chester County).

IMPORTANT UPDATES: ✌️🥰🎶☕️

The cafe is going through another tranisition!!
Please excuse the remodel as we turn more into the Skippack Village Visitor Center and Instrument Museum!

Summer Concert series on the weekends and haunted village tours at night.

We will always still offer the same great coffee and teas and milkshakes and smoothies and homemade pastries for sure so dont worry!!

We Will be open only on Saturdays through February as we transition. Then back to our winter/spring hours - Wednesdays through Saturdays 10-3pm. (Extended hours when the weather gets nicer and open on all Skippack Village event weekends and dates).

Also excited to get out a summer music schedule for our ‘afternoon concerts on the lawn’ 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Look for some great fun stuff happening in our part of town. 😲👀

Lost places from Skippack's past:
This old home once stood on the corner of Skippack Pike and Forty Foot Road, presently occupied by Skippack Dental. The oldest part is theorized to be a tenant house from the estate of George Merckel, early settler who came in 1726 and whose own house is sadly deteriorating in the woods not far from here. In 1944, the home was bought by Wilson and Marion Dickey, and became the childhood home of Skip Dickey (information and photo provided by his son Michael Dickey). Within the photo we see a sign of local contractors James Brothers Builders. Around 1995 the house was razed to make way for the present dental office. This house occupied the northeast corner of "Lincoln Square". On the opposite corner lies the Indenhofen Farmstead. The present Skippack Post Office was once the Minerva Ziegler farm (barn burned in 1958), and the southeast corner (now woods) was the site of another farm, no buildings remaining. -Benjamin H. Webb
