Have you ever visited the Saratoga Monument?

Standing 154½ feet above the Hudson Valley in Victory (near Schuylerville), the Saratoga Monument commemorates the American victory at the Battles of Saratoga—America's Turning Point in the Revolutionary War.

Designed by architect Jared C. Markham with striking Gothic and Egyptian influences, the monument's cornerstone was laid on October 17, 1877, exactly 100 years after General Burgoyne's surrender, and the monument was completed in 1883.

Check out breathtaking views of the Hudson Valley and experience one of the region's most iconic landmarks. Whether you're a history enthusiast or simply exploring Saratoga County, the Saratoga Monument is a must-visit destination.

🗺️ Follow the Road to America's Turning Point

Every campaign has a story—and every story has a path.

This map of the Saratoga Campaign traces the movements that led to one of the most consequential victories of the American Revolution. It highlights the Battle of Bennington on August 16, 1777, a critical American victory that weakened British General John Burgoyne's army by depriving it of much-needed troops and supplies.

The map also follows Brigadier General John Stark's march as he led his forces to join Major General Horatio Gates, just days before the Battle of Freeman's Farm. The arrival of these reinforcements strengthened the Continental Army at a pivotal moment in the campaign.

History isn't just about where battles were fought—it's about the roads traveled, the decisions made, and the people who changed the course of a nation.

🇺🇸 HELP US MAKE 2027 ONE TO REMEMBER! 🇺🇸

Next year marks the 250th anniversary of the Battles of Saratoga, and planning is already beginning for a very special Turning Point Parade & Festival!

As a 100% volunteer-run organization, we need more hands, ideas and community members at the table to help us make it happen.

We’re especially looking for volunteers interested in:
• Event planning & organization
• Fundraising
• Sponsorship outreach
• Grant research & writing
• Community and business partnerships
• Parade & festival planning
• Helping wherever an extra set of hands is needed!

You don’t need event-planning experience—just a willingness to get involved and help us build something our community can be proud of.

Whether you can take on a project, help behind the scenes, or simply have a few hours to give, there’s a place for you on our team.

The 250th is a once-in-a-generation opportunity to celebrate the history that happened right here in our community. Help us make it something special. ❤️🤍💙

Well worth the read! 🇺🇸

Beautifully written by our local Town of Saratoga Historian, Saratoga County 250th Vice Chair, and Turning Point Parade & Festival Committee member Sean Kelleher, this piece connects the story of Bennington to the larger Saratoga Campaign - and to the roads, rivers, landscapes and communities that still surround us today.

A fascinating reminder that the history we commemorate here in Schuylerville is part of a much bigger, interconnected story. Take a few minutes to read and follow the journey south toward Saratoga!

For visitors exploring the Capital Region NY and Upstate New York, the road from Bennington to Saratoga offers more than a series of battlefields.

It reveals a campaign shaped by geography and human relationships.

Burgoyne’s American Indian and First Nation allies brought knowledge of the country that his European army needed. After Bennington, many departed.

The campaign continued, but Burgoyne’s understanding of the landscape had narrowed.
