Another great night at the Schuyler Makerspace!

Tonight we hosted our Introduction to Machine Sewing workshop, where participants learned the basics of using a sewing machine while creating their very first project: a beautiful reversible tote bag!

A huge thank you to Mindy Smith for sharing her talent, skills, and joyful spirit with our community. Your patience and passion made this class such a fun and welcoming experience for everyone.

That’s our second workshop of the month in the books, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of August has in store. Thank you to everyone who joined us! we love seeing our community learn, create, and grow together.

¡Otra gran noche en el Schuyler Makerspace!

Esta noche tuvimos nuestro taller de introducción de costura a máquina, donde los participantes aprendieron los fundamentos del manejo de la máquina de coser mientras realizaban su primer proyecto: ¡un precioso bolso reversible!

What an incredible way to kick off our August workshop series!

Today, 16 participants from Schuyler, Columbus, Clarkson, and Howells joined us for the first of our four floral arranging workshops. It was a joy to see everyone learning, creating, laughing, and sharing ideas together.

We hope you left inspired with a new skill to continue practicing—and who knows, maybe even turn it into a profitable side hustle someday!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make today’s class such a fun and fulfilling experience. A special thank you to BeLovely by Kim Parsons for sharing your talent, passion, and expertise with our community. We can’t wait to see everyone back for the next workshop! ✨

Meet tomorrow’s workshop instructor, Kim Parsons, and her mom, Kathy Horn—two talented floral artists whose passion for flowers has been shared across generations. 💐 Their story is a beautiful reminder of how creativity, family, and craftsmanship can inspire others.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, August 4, we kick off the first of four
floral arranging workshops happening throughout the month of August! We can’t wait to learn from Kim and create something beautiful together.

Meet Mindy Smith, our talented sewing instructor! 🧵

Mindy’s love for sewing began at just 9 years old, and at 16 she received a sewing machine that she still uses to this day. Talk about a machine built to last!

Many in Schuyler may also recognize Mindy from her years as a middle school music teacher. She retired after teaching here more than 23 years ago, but her passion for sharing knowledge hasn’t slowed down one bit.

Now she’s helping others discover the joy of sewing, one stitch at a time. We’re so grateful to have her as part of our Makerspace community!

All of the classes have officially filled up, and registrations are now closed. Thank you to everyone who signed up!

WOW... THANK YOU, SCHUYLER!

We are truly overwhelmed—in the best way possible—by the incredible response to our Basics of Flower Arranging Workshop!

Our original registration deadline was July 28, but as of today, we have officially closed registration because of the amazing interest from our community.

We planned for one workshop only, but your enthusiasm has been so incredible that we now have enough registrations to fill 5–6 classes as of today! 🤯❤️

Because we want to make sure everyone has the best possible experience, we'll be reaching out to registered participants over the next several days to confirm their spot and discuss additional class dates and times. Our goal is to serve as many people as possible while keeping each workshop enjoyable and hands-on.

Thank you for your patience, your flexibility, and for supporting opportunities like this at the Schuyler Makerspace. Seeing our community so excited to learn, create, and connect reminds us why we do this.

Estamos realmente abrumados —en el mejor de los sentidos— por la increíble respuesta que ha tenido nuestro taller de Conceptos básicos de los arreglos florales.

La fecha límite de inscripción original era el 28 de julio, pero hoy hemos cerrado oficialmente la registracion debido al enorme interés mostrado por nuestra comunidad.

Habíamos planeado un solo taller, ¡pero el entusiasmo ha sido tan grande que ya contamos con suficientes inscripciones para llenar entre 5 y 6 clases! 🤯❤️

Un espacio donde puedes crear, aprender y dar vida a tus ideas utilizando equipos como:
Máquinas de bordar, cortadoras Cricut y Silhouette, impresora de sublimación, máquinas de coser y remalladoras, máquinas para hacer botones y calcomanias, telares, etc.
El uso de los equipos y la asistencia a los talleres son gratuitos (se requiere capacitación previa).
