“Should I show up if I didn’t sign up for a slot?”
Sure! Why not? Auditions are at 6pm Saturday and Sunday at 136 Summer Street!
This play has six great roles for actors, great dialogue that is fun to perform, and a wholesome message. Great parts for men and women! (Currently we’re a little light on men who have signed up for auditions, what a surprise.) But we want everyone to audition!
Judy has always dreamed of being the perfect 1950s housewife, even if her own feminist mother thinks it’s beneath her. After all, feminism is supposed to be about choice, and she’s choosing to devote herself to keeping the perfect home and to serve her husband. As for her husband, how could he be unhappy? He’s living every man’s dream, right? RIGHT!?
Sign up for auditions today and have fun reading these scenes with us!

For more than 80 years Wausau Community Theatre has led the way in bringing local talent together to provide a quality, accessible and affordable theatre experience for the community, by the community. However, the true impact of Wausau Community Theatre goes way beyond the final product audiences see on stage.
An inclusive environment welcomes everyone at Wausau Community Theatre. While each cast is unique, the one thing they all have in common is the friendship and bonding as a theatre family that comes out of each production. Many of these relationships continue long after shows are done.
Wausau Community Theatre influences a significant amount of event related spending. Audience surveys support that many shop, dine and go out for drinks before or after shows. Ticket sales also demonstrate that more are traveling from outside of the greater Wausau area and including a WCT show as part of their destination weekend increasing lodging at area hotels. With local expenses for producing a show at the Grand Theater averaging about $7,000, we also invest thousands of dollars in the local economy each season for production costs.
By giving people a glimpse into what the theatrical or musical performance displays, Wausau Community Theatre fosters community building by creating a sense of understanding within diverse groups of the community. An example of this included engaging staff and clients from a certified psychosocial rehabilitation community to facilitate talkback sessions after performances of WCT’s production of NEXT TO NORMAL using the diversity of theater to open a conversation about mental illness.
From designing, building and painting sets, to running sound and light boards, to creating costumes and props, to stage managing a show, WCT productions offer a variety of opportunities for people to learn valuable skills. Involvement also promotes problem solving, stimulates creativity, and instills confidence, self-esteem and discipline. Moreover, studies show that children who participate in fine arts and theatre do better in school regardless of their cultural or socio-economic background. Additionally, they experience increased community awareness, social skills, cultural perspective and artistic abilities, all skills that can help them learn to function more responsibly within our communities as they become contributing members of society.
So, the next time you see a Wausau Community Theatre production, remember, it’s about way more than just what you see on stage.
