After three wins in a row against fillies and mares at Lone Star Park by an average margin of victory of 13 1/4 lengths, RoseBrook Farm’s RB Mary Lylah will take on a full field of older male horses in the Grade 2 Open Division of the Texas Arabian Stallion Stakes over 1 mile on Friday. In 2022, Diamond Gem AA became the first 3-year-old to win the Texas Arabian Stallion Stakes since T M Fred Texas in 2010. Diamond Gem AA would clinch the Darley Award Horse of the Year with that victory. With the same trainer (Jerenesto Torrez) and jockey (Anardis Rodriguez) as Diamond Gem AA, connections of RB Mary Lylah will hope for the same success and that she could become the first 3-year-old filly to be named Horse of the Year since Sand Witchh in 2009. -defending champion WMA Big Baby
-last year’s Darley Award Champion 3-Year-Old Filly Pearls Spirit AA
-last year’s Darley Award Champion Older Mare and 2020 Darley Award Champion 3-Year-Old Filly Uptown Lady Arabella
-rising 3-year-old filly star RB Malexis, the winner of this year’s Grade 3 Texas Lone Star Juvenile Fillies and the Firecracker Distaff
Each of these fillies and mares represent top breeding programs in the United States in Welcome Arabians ranch, Allegro Arabians, Uptown Arabians, and RoseBrook Farm.
