Who's the CUTEST animal at Via Aquarium? 🐠☺️

Our aquarist Julia LOVES our burrfish because they're so adorable!

With their wide eyes and open mouths, they always look like they're ready to interact, ask a question, or say hello!

While most burrfish live in tropical waters, you don't have to book a vacation to see them. If you come visit us here at Via Aquarium, our aquarists would love to show you these adorable little guys and teach you all about them!

Make sure to FOLLOW to learn more about the amazing species we have and protect here!

Happy International Sawfish Day! 🌊🐟

Despite their shark-like appearance, sawfish are actually a type of ray! Their most recognizable feature is their long, tooth-lined snout, called a rostrum, which helps them locate and capture prey.

Sadly, sawfish populations have faced major declines due to threats such as habitat loss and accidental capture in fishing gear.

Come to Via Aquarium and learn about Sawfish and other species are so important to our oceans!

It’s World Rainforest Week! 🌿🌎

Rainforests are some of the most diverse ecosystems on Earth, providing homes for countless species of reptiles, amphibians, fish, birds, mammals, and insects.

At Via Aquarium, many of the animals you meet have connections to tropical environments like these such as various snakes, lizards, and some types of fish. Protecting forests also helps protect waterways and the incredible wildlife that depends on them.

This week, take a moment to appreciate the amazing biodiversity of our rainforests and why these habitats are worth protecting! 💚

Keep an eye out for one of Via Aquarium’s smallest helpers — cleaner shrimp! 🦐✨

Cleaner shrimp can be found throughout the aquarium, and in the wild they play an important role in keeping reef communities healthy. These tiny crustaceans remove parasites, dead skin, and debris from fish, creating special “cleaning stations” where larger animals stop by for a little maintenance.

Healthy reef ecosystems depend on relationships like these, which is why protecting ocean habitats is so important.

Next time you visit Via, see how many cleaner shrimp you can spot throughout the aquarium! 🌊🐠

CALLING ALL TEACHERS 🧑‍🏫🍎

Did you know that we love running field trips here at the aquarium?

It's true!

We know that planning field trips can be a challenge. You want to make sure that you plan something fun, engaging, and highly educational. Plus, handling all of those logistics can be difficult.

That's why we put together fantastic field trip programs for schools around the area, and make sure that the process is as seamless as possible for those of you making the effort to bring your class here.

On a Via Aquarium field trip, your class won't just learn about marine life and conservation - they'll be inspired to connect with the natural world in a whole new way, and determined to protect it throughout their lives.

If you're looking to plan a field trip for any point this school year, just DM us the phrase "FIELD TRIP" and we'll get back to you with more info on how you can get started with planning your experience.

Thank you for everything you do for our kids! We hope you have a wonderful school year!
