"River Stones, Purple" is part of a trio of paintings that come from a memory of wading in a stoney creek as a child. Each painting has a different colored center panel but they all have in common the organic stone background. Can you feel them under your bare feet?

Have you ever been swimming in a lake at night? So dark...but with glints of bright moon reflected on the surface. "Night Swim" reminds me of that experience. It was designed as a triptych, but can stand alone as a single panel.

The off-season can be so special in places that are overrun with tourists. This piece, "Remembering Lake George," let's viewers sit with the peaceful, sun-dappled waters of the great Adirondack lake all year round

A friend of mine commented that the falling diamonds reminded her of autumn leaves. I love it when my art helps people make connections to the natural world.

In this painting I wanted to experiment with creating a low-contrast composition but with a high-energy color. I like how the red-on-red diamonds fade in and out of the background.

I seem to incorporate music into my art more often than not. How do you represent sound in illustration? Here I incorporated historic photos from the Library of Congress to highlight the origins of American Klezmer music. The snippets of sheet music are also from the LoC. I love how the handwriting adds the gesture of the composer to my art. As you look for gifts for the holidays please think of my picture book Klezmer.
