Celebrating 20 years since Disney’s HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL became a global sensation, the hit musical arrives at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts (soon to be the Al Larson Cultural Center) this August, in an unmissable new production. Join Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High as they navigate first love, friendships and self-discovery, all while juggling classes, basketball games, auditions and the expectations of their peers.

This energetic nostalgic look at the early 2000s runs August 1 - August 9, 2026, at the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts (soon to be the Al Larson Cultural Center), features all the songs fans know and love: including Breaking Free, We’re All In This Together, Get’cha Head in the Game and Stick to the Status Quo.

The cast features Matthias Goecke (Troy Bolton), Emma Perisho (Gabriella Montez), Claire Pruim Haran (Sharpay Evans), Angelo Bravos (Ryan Evens), Dana Cavada (Taylor McKessie), Yahia Nabil (Chad Danforth), Xander De La Cruz (Zeke Baylor), Fiona Bilkey (Martha Cox), Olivia Sis (Kelsi Nielson), and Bruno Diaz (Jack Scott). The wider company features Bre Auriemme, Amber Bautista, Tabitha Behring, Kameron Conner, Cailyn Durbin, Nayan Gupta, Claire Johnson, Kayleigh Maher, Isaiah Martin, Lilith Myers, Jenny Palacios, Gabrielle Pelayo, Hayley Pieper, Sephine Rivera, Emily Rose, William Schroader, Morgan Smith, and Elliot Tafoya.

Schaumburg Summer Theatre is also ecstatic to welcome back alumni Mike Frale and Holly Baker as Coach Bolton and Ms Darbus respectively.

Have a basketball in the back of your garage from your sport days? Did you buy a ball thinking you’d use it to exercise but never got around to it? We’d LOVE to barrow it for the summer! Drop it off at the Praire Center, or send it along with one of our cast members to their rehearsals. You’ll be able to pick them back up after August 9th!

We’re still looking for a few more actors willing to play masc presenting roles to join our casting process. Just send in a 1 minute song, and then one of the following: come to callbacks for a dance call, film the provided combo, or send in any footage of you dancing in show choir, onstage, or in a dance class!

This could be your view this summer! Join us in performing one of the campiest & complicated musicals in the theatre cannon (and if you want to build stamina - this show is essentially a free workout class each day)!

We’ve already filled up half of Saturday’s available timeslots (and the 12:30 slot is FULL) so if you’re trying to get an in-person slot - time is over the essence!

Schaumburg Summer Theatre brings together the top high school, college, and post graduate performers each summer on the Al Larson Prairie Center for the Arts stage.  Performed with a live pit, union lights & sound designers/technicians, costumes by a Costume Designer who holds a masters degree, and a directing team heavily praised by previous cast members and the Chicago theatre community.

This summer we’re all in this together as we adventure into the world of early 2000s Disney nostalgia with High School Musical!
