Towards the end of the summer, and throughout the year, I always have people ask what we need/want in the art room. I also have amazing community members who bring by goodies on a regular basis. At the end of the day it takes lots of supplies to make amazing creations with our kiddos!
Rest assured we are well stocked for the year but there are always new things I would love to add and try. If you would like to contribute to fun new supplies I have attached a list of art room wishes for the year.

Student Art Auction this Saturday!
Pike Valley Art students will be holding a silent auction for work done this last year during Riverfest in Scandia.
Work will be on display and open for bidding in the Conference Room attached to the Scandia Public Library until midnight on Saturday.
Come out and support our student artists. Bid early, bid often!😉

Low-quality pictures but high-quality exploring!
Art Society got the chance to travel to The Hansen Museum to explore the DaVinci Exhibit in Logan, KS today. So very cool to see so many of his inventions brought to life not to mention the art.

This morning my mural team got the privilege of sitting down with a real muralist from our community.
Daniel Reid is a local artist who has done the panther murals for our school and many other in the area. He did an amazing job of talking to them on a real life level about artistic process. The work that skill takes to develop. How to work with communities for projects. And giving them an artists perspective on their work.
I know they are ridiculously talented but getting to hear that from someone else is so important for their confidence development.
Thank you Daniel! And thank you to our admin who always encourage us to put these opportunities out there for our students.

Full confession time: I am terrible at social media as a teacher (and mom, lol).
But over here at PV Art we are still doing all the things! While I always hate saying bye to my seniors, I LOVE seeing what each new group of freshman bring to the table.
All of that to say we have some super, exciting things going on in the art department with tons more to come this year!
