Maybe itâs time I reconsider where I do my on-line ordering.
Hello friends and cherished guests. We want to chat with you about some changes on the horizon. We want to be transparent with our values and practices.
One change we are making is cancelling our Amazon account. While we havenât agreed with their practices for some time now, getting products from them is simply cheaper at times for a small business running on very slim margins. With more changes this year, their values just donât align with ours and we have cancelled our account. We are working diligently to find replacements with companies that align with us. Unfortunately, to keep providing a quality product, pay our employees well, and be involved in our community, we may need to raise our prices.
Additionally, coffee prices have risen over 100% in the past year. This undoubtedly will have a ripple effect across the industry. We are fortunate to have a roaster (Windmill Coffee Roasters) who works directly with coffee growers, who can then get a better price and can grow their own operations. We are so grateful to them when coffee producers have historically been very underpaid. We trust them to keep delivering a quality product and make sure these producers keep getting paid what theyâre worth.
Tariffs. Weâve all been hearing about them. Yes, many of the tariffs have been rolled back today. However, China has been boosted to a 125% tariff rate. I am not an expert, but know that many auxiliary products are produced overseas (packing, cups, etc) and that will undoubtedly affect our products.
Prices for materials and goods risen across the board in these last few years since Covid. It is such a fine balance with a small business wanting to produce a quality product, pay our staff well, while still being affordable to our guests. We donât take this lightly.
Please keep supporting small businesses whenever you can. I feel like I say this every year, but small businesses need you more than ever. Even if you canât purchase from us, give us a like, review, maybe even a hug. We so appreciate you spending your hard earned dollars with us.
