Cooper Hall Concerts

Cooper Hall Concerts COOPER HALL CONCERTS take place in Cooper Hall in Saxonburg, PA. Concert proceeds benefit Roebling Park and all facilities therein. Doors open at 6:00 PM.

Cooper Hall Concerts, established in 2018, is an organization that plans and executes musical events at Cooper Hall in Saxonburg, PA. All net proceeds from event ticket sales and event-related fundraisers are donated to the Borough of Saxonburg to be used in the maintenance and improvement of Roebling Park and the facilities located therein, including Cooper Hall itself. Cooper Hall Concerts partn

ers with the Borough of Saxonburg, as well as local businesses to put on these musical events. Local businesses (usually food / alcohol vendors) who participate in the events volunteer their time but keep all the money they make while working the event. In this way, Cooper Hall Concerts can provide terrific amenities for our attendees, while shining a light on our wonderful local businesses who can still be fairly compensated for their services. Artists who perform for Cooper Hall Concert events are paid for their services as well, as are the production crews (sound/lights). It is our belief that charitable events that feature musical entertainment can and should fairly pay artists and production crews for their time, especially since the Covid 19 pandemic inflicted such harm on the entertainment industry. Our next event is a showcase event featuring four talented local songwriters: Saxonburg native Amanda Noah, Cook McKoy, Tom Panei, and Dave Zaccari. The emcee for this event will be Bob Cupp of the Rock Station 97.7 FM. In addition to lots of music, Bob will lead the panel through an examination of their craft and writing processes, the stories behind some of their most popular songs, and wherever else the discussion takes us. For fans of local music, this will be a night to remember! Join us on Friday, November 5, 2021 at Cooper Hall for the SAXONBURG SONGWRITER SHOWCASE. Food and libations will be available from Conny Creek Brewing. A penny social will also be featured where attendees can bid on gift baskets donated by local businesses. Advance tickets are available via Eventbrite.com. CONTACT:

Entertaining Our Region and Helping Our Park

Saxonburg is a beautiful and historic Western Pennsylvania town that has been blessed in many ways since its founding in 1846. In the last decades of the 20th Century, a wealthy local businessman and philanthropist named Reldon Cooper, who also served as the borough’s mayor for several years, donated land to expand the town’s park, as well as two buildings; the Saxonburg Museum, and Cooper Hall. The latter building, named for the late mayor, is a large event hall that the borough rents for weddings, corporate events, baby showers, auctions, and so forth.

Receiving these gifts was obviously a huge boon to the borough, and the town has benefitted from them for several years. However, buildings don’t maintain themselves, and the costs associated with the maintenance and moderization of these facilities place a heavy burden on the taxpayers of Saxonburg - who already pay among the highest property taxes in Butler County.

Rather than seek a tax increase for new roofs, new sidewalks, better drainage, parking improvements, and the myriad of other items that need to be done in the Park, Borough Councilman Scott Herbst thought that the hall could be leveraged as a venue to put on a series of benefit concerts to raise some of the funds that the Park needs. Not only could times that the Hall would otherwise be idle now be profitable, but also high-quality musical acts could be brought to Saxonburg and be a source of entertainment for the borough and the surrounding area. So Cooper Hall Concerts was born.

The inaugural concert will be on Saturday, September 29th 2018, and will be a “local rock” themed event, with the bill including singer-songwriter Tom Panei, Three-piece rock cover band Mr. Furley, and local indie-rockers Anger The Ant. If the first event is successful, the next concert will be a County / Bluegrass themed event, and will likley take place in early 2019.
