I believe we must be intentional in the way we build friendships, both where we live and where we work. Diverse networks of mutual support and TRUST are essential to living a quality life and sparking societal change. My favorite intentional practice in my book is SHARE POWER WITH AN ACTIVE HEART. https://www.startwiththeheartbooks.com/

We all have personal power....a power that is infinite (unlike positional power which is finite). If we learn how to give and receive our gifts of personal power across our many lines of difference, we can build the positional power needed to overcome those who seek to oppress and dominate our communities and our world.

The practice of sharing power with an active heart includes four key shifts: (1) Understand your unique power (2) Contribute from your own unique power (3) Be curious about another person's unique power and (4) Receive offers from another person's unique power.

My colleague, Yerodin Avent, and I will be sharing more about this practice and the other nine practices at our workshop on May 11 in Saxapahaw NC. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/873023335297?aff=oddtdtcreator
We'll include concrete lessons learned in applying these practices in our community change work and our personal lives (all of which weave together of course!) We'll also help you design an action plan to increase your network of relationships, step by step.
