Another before and after for the Spring of 2026.
The Taliaferro plot got cleaned on the morning of April 6. The family has had two burials in the plot in the last six years. The monument for those burials was installed a couple of days before the cleaning and can be seen in the foreground.

I had a guest take a much better picture of the owl today.
We are on day four of the owl watching over its little corner of section H.

A little red eastern screech owl has been holed up in the old tree above F50 for two days now and has been quite the treat for the bird watchers that come this time of the year.

Bonaventure Before and After

Lots of the top tier monuments in Bonaventure Cemetery have been cleaned this Spring.
The monument company came out and sprayed cleaning solution on the Baldwin monument for the family back on March 11.
This is what the it looked like the next day as the organic matter and pollutants in the stone broke down. The second picture was taken a couple of days ago after the monument had lightened up for about a month.

It might make one in love with death, to think that one should be buried in so sweet a place"

Spring is in the air, the flowers are blooming and many of Bonaventure‘s monuments are getting a good cleaning. Gracie Watson’s statue was one of those recently cleaned with funding from the Bonaventure Historical Society. Here is the before and after.

The pink, red, and white azaleas are in full bloom, painting Bonaventure Cemetery with color. The predominant fuchsia azaleas are just starting to open—about twenty percent for now—and even the dogwoods are beginning to show their blossoms.
Several monuments are getting a good cleaning, including Gracie Watson and the Baldwin Angel.
My pup visitor today was Dash, a very good boy who was the perfect little gentleman from start to finish.
It was very windy and a few light sprinkles tried to join us, but we managed to dodge them. All in all, another beautiful day exploring Bonaventure Cemetery.
