ENCAUSTIC PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP AT MADE IN SMA STUDIO
MARCH 20 AND 21, 11AM-4PM, COLONIA SAN ANTONIO, SAN MIGUEL DE ALLENDE, GTO, MX.

Encaustic Photography is the combination of photographs with beeswax, resin, and color. Painters have long been enamored of this process and now photographers and mixed media artists are getting in on the fun. In this 2 day class, we will explore encaustic history and safety rules, how to mix and make the wax medium, choosing the right photo for encaustic, applying the wax, applying color, special textures, etc. Take your photography to the next level with this informative, hands-on experience.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
Amateurs, Advanced Amateurs, Professionals. No previous experience with the encaustic process is required.
SPECIAL NOTES:
Participants can send me a selection of images ready for printing. PRACTICE PHOTOS AND MATERIALS INCLUDED. A letter with further info will be sent to participants before the workshop begins.

2 day workshop is $250 US and includes all materials and printing of one original photo selected by you.
$100 US deposit due by Friday March 13. Register early. The class is limited to 4 students. You can pay with PAYPAL at [email protected]. The remainder can be paid on the first day of class with a US check, cash in pesos at current exchange rate, or Cash US dollars.
Cancellations made at least 1 week in advance will receive full refund. AFTER THAT DEADLINE, NO DEPOSIT REFUNDS FOR CANCELLATIONS.

YOUR INSTRUCTOR:
Meryl Truett is a curator, gallerist, teacher, consultant, and artist. She is living her dream in the magical pueblo of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. Meryl has exhibited extensively in the US and Europe. She has been widely published in numerous magazines such as Oxford American, The Vanderbilt Review, and Camera Austria. Her book “Thump Queen and other Southern Anomalies” is in its second printing. She earned an MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2003 with additional art training in France. Truett has extensive experience teaching at the college level and conducting photography, mixed media, and book publishing workshops.
